Super Castlevania IV(SNES ROM)-So I downloaded this a while ago with a bunch of other SNES games like super metroid megaman X,etc. This was the only one I didnt play so late last night I decided to give it a shot,I just finnished it now and guess what this game is kinda of great!I could never get on with the NES castlevania games because of how hard and archaic they felt but this game felt really good to play from the get go and while the dificulty certainlly ramped up in the ending with the boss rush and some ridiculus plataforming it never felt unmanageable,it kinda of felt like playing dark souls in way,the stages were also great especially the one where you're in Dracula's treasure cave(?) where you're basically using treasure chests as ground to walk I also love the little set pieces in the game like the chandeliers the falling bridge and some of the boss(which are almost all pretty cool) introductions these are small things but they made the game so much better for being there, and that soundtrack from stage one is already blowing your mind especially in moments like the final boss fight where the music starts to kick in at the end.Yeah for my first proper Castlevania I think this was pretty awesome :D

22 May: Portal 2 (PC)
25 May: Street Fighter II': Hyper Fighting (360)
Bit of an odd one this because obviously I've played through countless iterations of SFII over the years with various characters. However, this was the first time I'd ever actually cleared the XBLA version and the first time (as far as I can recall) that I've ever cleared any version of SFII on the highest difficulty.

Took me a whole load of continues (I'm not very good at SFII) to get to M.Bison (Vega) as Ken. Then one time I was continuing I accidentally selected my own Bison for a mirror match and ended up winning with a load of cheesy Psycho Crushers. Ah well, two new Achievements (for 35G) on one of the earliest Live Arcade games anyway! :)

Credit is due, never managed that feat myself. Can't say how much I desperately wanted to accomplish this back in the 90's but I probably could tell you that more than 90% of the accumulated time that I tried was against Bison.

Spoiler: show
Broken Sword 5 - Part 1 (PC) $50 Kickstarter (included all previous Revolution games on GOG)

Maybe a bit rougher around the edges than I hoped but I was very glad to be back pointing and clicking with George and Nico.
I look forward to part two.

Super Stardust Delta - (Vita) £7.99
I got the hero of the galaxy trophy to say I've completed all the planets but I'm far from done with the game. The best I've played in the Stardust series and one of the best games I've tried on the Vita.

Guacamelee! (PS3/Vita) £7.99
Played up to the last boss on PS3 and got so frustrated with the colour coded shields that I completely gave up (I'm colour blind by the way).
I never thought I'd finish it but when I was given a Vita I saw I had Guacamelee available to download so I gave it another try. Synced my save and bashed my head against a wall for a few hours before the credits.
Other than the colour stuff this game would have hit my top 10 last year easy. It nailed everything it set out to do in the gameplay department and the graphics and music are great. I understand the humour is too internety for some people but it didn't bother me. Easy to ignore.

Broken Age Act 1 - (PC) (About $30 including some tip jar contributions)
I loved it. I'm looking forward to some excellent pay off in act 2. If it lives up to my expectations I'll be shocked if it's not something I play again and again for years to come.
Even just the art puts it up with some of my favourite games ever.

Shadow Of The Colossus (PS3)
I can't fault it. I can't imagine any other games coming close to this in quality for a while. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to actually finish it. I played about half way through on the PS2 and got rid when the PS3 version was released and only recently had the urge to put any real time into it.
Probably the same reason I can't play any half life games. So much critical acclaim can be stressful to me as a player.

Mario and Luigi Dream Team Bros (3DS)
I've loved all of these games but this is the first one I've finished. It's probably just me but either the combat is ridiculously hard or I am terrible at it.
Either way it's a cool game well worth playing. I'm happy not to play any more of it though.

GTAV (PS3)
Fantastic looking world, much improved but still a bit ropey controls and I enjoyed some of the character switching stuff but I was very happy to see the end credits and trade it in.

Dark Souls II (PS3)
Substantially easier than the earlier games as they gave me way too many souls and removed the death penalty but I still loved every minute. The victors stone is there if I want it to be harder.
I know I'll still be playing this along with Demon's Souls and Dark Souls for many years to come.

Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)
Seen the credits so I've not really finished but I'm counting it. I didn't enjoy it as much as 3D Land but I had a great time with some of the bonkers levels and I'm really glad I bought a Wii U to play it.
I hope to see a new single player focused game in the future as I think some of the levels suffered in making sure there was room for four.

South Park Stick of Truth (PS3)
I haven't watched South Park for a few years but this was a great way to ease back into it. It was a bit too easy if anything but I didn't really come to the game looking for a challenge so I was happy with walking through most of it.
Canada was a great moment.

Trials Evolution Gold (PC)
Seen the credits but there's a lot of bronze in there. I might have reached by limit.
Great game but I shouldn't need to knock it down to 720p to get a steady framerate.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within (PC) (Normal Iron Man)
I've started this game a few times but have always been a bit too precious about losing any counties so I would just quit but this time I just kept pushing through.
It felt a bit easy by the end but I'll be starting a harder run soon.
Transistor (PC)
Glorious followup to one of my favourite games of the last few years. I'll be shocked if this isn't my personal goty this year.

01/01 - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Easy Levels)
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Advanced Levels)
02/01 - TRAUMA
03/01 - Machinarium
06/01 - Uplink
17/01 - Lyne
21/01 - Botanicula
23/01 - Cave Story+
28/01 - Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit
31/01 - Gunpoint
01/02 - Blocks That Matter
02/02 - Broken Age Act 1
11/02 - Analogue: A Hate Story
02/03 - Dark Souls
16/03 - Spec Ops: The Line
22/03 - 2048
03/04 - Monaco - Fin
15/04 - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
02/05 - Castlevania
11/05 - Final Fantasy 13
19/05 - New Super Mario Bros. U

I unintentionally skipped past two and a half worlds, but I beat NSMBU while visiting friends in Orlando last week. I don't think it was bad, certainly; something about it just lacks…soul, I guess. I think it's likely 2D Mario fatigue; the four NSMB games came out across…six years, I think, which is quite decently spaced for how much content is in each game. Unfortunately the things you can do with 2D run-and-jump gameplay just don't cover the 500 or so levels that span the four titles, and it doesn't really matter how many years are between releases in that case.

I also beat the final boss of Teslagrad. My friend played the rest of the game, but he couldn't beat the boss, so I stepped in and beat it because I'm good at videogames. The magnet platforming gameplay is fun, and I remember playing something very much like it several years ago; I don't know how much it is, but I think it's most likely worth picking up.

On the subject of Teslagrad, though, it was the first game made available through IndieBox, a service that will sell indie games in retro packaging: a box with a USB cartridge, soundtrack CD, manual and other goodies, delivered to you. It's a really cool idea that you should subscribe to; rapidly growing and it's gonna have a lot of cool stuff in the coming months.

Spoiler: show
03/01 - The Last of Us
13/02 - Brothers
16/02 - Left Behind: The Last of Us dlc
26/02 – The Walking Dead: Season 2 – Episode 3
26/02 - The Walking Dead: Season 2 - Episode 3 - These episodes are short enough that they aren't a huge burden to complete, but at the halfway point Season 2 is leaving me underwhelmed. A lot of the story beats are riffs on what has gone before, and I don't feel the story has kicked in in a way that Season 1 had at this equivalent point. When I think about the gut punches that S1: Ep3 pulled, S2: Ep3 can't help but feel inferior.

A very good game, and a great history lesson on design, but I prefer the Zelda games that came after it.

God...I've only completed 6 games so far this year...dissertations take up a lot of time, huh?

I'm only on 4 so far, and that's including Titanfall's campaign and a really short iOS puzzler...

In my case the excuse is primarily Hearthstone, and also several games I've got bored of before finishing them.

Rayman Legends (WiiU)
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PS3)
Gravity Bone (PC)
Thirty Flights of Loving (PC)
Street Fighter Alpha (PS1/PSN)
Wipeout 2048 (Vita)
Contra 3 (SNES/WiiU)
Megaman 2 (NES/WiiU)
Ray Tracers (PS1)
Megaman X4 (PS1)
Espgaluda 2 (Android)
Canon Spike (Dreamcast)
Batsugun (Arcade/MAME)Dark Souls 2 (PS3)
South Park: The Stick of Truth (PS3)

I think the majority of the reviews were pretty much dead-on with this one. A slight but serviceable RPG wrapped up in some very generous fan service, and probably the funniest video game experience I've had. Relentlessly absurd, crude and foul-mouthed, and absolutely in a good way.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 4.

Very short I thought with I'd say one stand out scene. Great cliffhanger though ready for the last episode

I don't know, I did mine in 48 hours :p.

(note: only because we ended up with the final project ending 6 weeks earlier than we originally thought!)
