Please don't be like 1001 Spikes. A crushing disappointment.

You might want to check out p.nintendo.net. The free game you downloaded from Mario Kart 8 gave you some extra points on there!

Just blazed through the first 4 cups on Mario Kart, it's bloody brilliant. Getting a free game download was the icing on the cake. Went for Zelda Wind Waker. Seeing as that rarely goes below £35.

Bought another Wii U, now stuck with a console I can't play online. Bought it to play Mario Kart 8 online with friends and can't as the Nintendo ID had been used on another console. Nintendo customer services not open until Monday (someone should tell Nintendo it's 2014 and that customer support should be more accessible), so I've now got a console that is sat here doing nothing. I thought I'd watch a bit of Netflix in bed, nope, can't even run that without a Nintendo ID.

What a complete joke.

Almost certainly gonna pick up a Wii U in a couple of weeks when I get paid and work stuff dies down a bit. Loads of games I want to play but will try and just get a few initially as my backlog is ridiculous.

Do I need a pro controller or will II end up using the gamepad for everything?

I got a Pro Controller with my Wii U Zombi U bundle and I barely use it. It gets a lot of use from other people recently with Mario Kart 8, however, so it's handy to have around but if you've got those pesky Wii Remotes and the Classic Controller to plug into it, they'll work just as well.

Yeah I still don't have a Wii U-specific controller, I happily use a mix of the GamePad and older Wii pads, remotes and even sometimes nunchuks.

I bought a Pro Controller concurrently with my Wii U and it sat unused for about a year (mostly because I didn't have any games that supported it), but lately it's been all that I use. Between Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong TF, The Wind Waker, Mario Kart, Tekken, Need for Speed... Having the Pro Controller is great. And the battery on that thing lasts for ages.

This. I've not used my Pro Controller once yet. It's been purely Gamepad-a-doodle-doo.

Cheers guys. Probably won't get one at first and can always get one later if I want to play local MK multiplayer.

The Gamepad genuinely is a bloody nice piece of kit. You're definitely in for a treat when you get yours, the Wii U is a brilliant console. Anyone missing out on Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Wonderful 101, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze would do well to jump onboard.

Gah need to look at Pikmin 3. Got Wind Waker free to download. And Bayonetta 2 will hopefully hit this year. And Smash Bros....

Brain Training is now available on the Wii U. The first DS title to get the virtual console treatment. Best of all? Its free until July 10th!

Now that's smart...

Not impressed with the archaic practices put in place over accounts with Nintendo.

After waiting since Saturday to play Mario Kart 8 with friends I've been told that I can't use my Nintendo ID of NokkonWud as it was used on another Wii U. They recommended creating a new ID.

This wouldn't be a problem (although I'd still be unhappy because it's not an issue on Origin, Steam, UPlay, Xbox Live, PSN etc.) but my Nintendo 3DS XL has my Nintendo ID of NokkonWud attached and I'd like everything to match. I don't want different user names for different devices because of Nintendo's outdated practices.

When I enquired about changing my Nintendo ID on both devices I was told that I would then lose access to the games belonging to NokkonWud on the 3DS XL which include Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Super Mario 3D Land and Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds as well as several others.

All because they don't have in place the ability to simply use a second console like every other gaming platform on the market. It's incredible really, I'm genuinely baffled by it.

You mean you were playing at a friend's place on their WiiU? Why did you need to log in to your NNID?

No, I owned a Wii U and had to sell it last year as I was in need of some money.
