Re: Videogame News
It's intrusive when you have a bunch of enemies on screen and one of those bastards appears making you start banging against a wall,so you have to switch to a determined weapon pound that thing to death and then you can return to your normal combat where you can use all of the weapons at your disposal, the lock-on helps avoid this but removing them all together would be better, for me they just broke game pace too much and werent fun to fight at all.

Re: Videogame News
Oh right I can see how that would be a problem. I suppose that happened to me a few times, but not enough to really be a problem for me. Manual lock-on should fix it I imagine. What I never liked though was how not having the lock-on meant doing the stinger move was made much more cumbersome and inaccurate than it should have been.
Re: Videogame News
yep that was terrible,I still cant understand why devs dont put lock-on buttons in these types of games it should be the first thing on the design doc

Re: Videogame News
A lack of a lock-on is fine if you design your game with it in mind. The God of War and Lords of Shadow games do fine without them. But when you have a game like DMC where accuracy matters a lot more, and you have a redundant dodge button, it really is a serious design oversight. It wasn't game-breaking in DmC, but having it back in will be a huge improvement, I'm sure.
Re: Videogame News
You say that but the lack off lock still annoys me in those games too XD it's less of an issue there sure but I'd still like a lock-on that was actually the main thing that bothered me in the Lords of Shadow 2 demo and the original game.

Re: Videogame News
I'm sure if I were actually any good at DmC the situation would've been different, but I honestly can't say I even noticed there wasn't a lock-on. It never once occurred to me that I should have been able to do so. Looking forward to seeing how the game feels with one, but (as DmC was already second only to A Link Between Worlds in my favourite games of last year) I doubt it could climb much higher in my estimation.
Re: Videogame News
So I went looking for the thing included in the remaster: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/12/ ... 17th-2015/
And here is what I saw "DmC Definitive Edition includes community mods such as an optional timer disable for Bloody Palace Mode, a triple dash for Angel Evade, and the ability to hit red and blue enemies with any weapon." YES! =D the game will finnaly be fun the play for me now! Glad to see Ninja Theory taking the fanbase feedback and really turning things around especially because of the tension between the two a while ago, if they release this version on steam I will buy it! Now Im just waiting for the news that DMC4 SE will complete the other half of the game.

Re: Videogame News
I seriously doubt that they will rebuild DMC4 with 50% new levels. That's a whole lot of work for a re-release, and it would probably require them to re-write the whole story, which would also mean re-recording all the dialogue too.
Although I would like it if they did that, I never had a serious problem with the repeated levels in DMC4. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact DMC4 was my first game of the series, so I didn't have a precedent to judge it by. But still, I felt like the differences between how Nero and Dante control, and the different enemies you come across through the game mostly made up for it. More variety would definitely be an improvement, especially with bosses, but there was already enough there to make it feel like a significantly different experience to me.
It'll be interesting to see how they deal with Vergil in the game though. I'm expecting he'll just inexplicably be a playable character, but not actually a canon part of the game. It would be really cool if he had his own side-story though, with new levels and other content. I don't see a way they could write him in to the original main story though. And even trying to probably wouldn't be a good idea in the first place. It could likely end up feeling forced and redundant. Trying to bolt in a new character who wouldn't be able to play a role in events of the existing plot. Maybe they could take inspiration from Vergil's DLC in DmC. That was done pretty well.
And speaking of re-writes, I was thinking about how that would work with DmC too. I think they said they were re-writing some of the cutscenes slightly and adding in deleted scene or two, didn't they? Again, I think that might also not be a great idea. The writing and characterisation of that game is another thing that fans have been very vocal about, and it's part of the game I didn't like either, but I don't think it should be changed. While mechanics can be tweaked and improved, a story feels like it should be what it is. Tweaking it kind of cheapens it I feel. A character is who they are. It feels wrong to just go in and say "No no! He didn't say that! He actually said this!" so long after the fact. I can't really think of any way the story could be added to either. Well, apart from perhaps the implied subplot with Kat, but I can't really see a graceful way for that kind of thing to be added back in and done properly.

A new trailer for Dontnod's new one 'Life is Strange' has appeared.
I have a feeling this one might be very good indeed.

Re: Videogame News
Well that's a nice surprise! ODST is the only Halo game (that's an FPS anyway) I've never played. ODST sort of interests me though, and free is a great price for that. And I get it because I played a single match that one time, which had no technical problems at all. Ha!
Seems like they're hinting that it'll be made available to buy later down the line too. I wonder if that means Reach could be added as well.
And even though I'm not really interested in the maps, hearing that they're adding a new remastered one is cool. I always thought the number of remastered maps they had for Halo 2 seemed like a pretty small number. I assumed they would add at least some more later, and it looks like that's true.

Re: Videogame News
ODST is my favourite game in the Halo series. It delivers it's plot in a far more interesting way than your average FPS.
Re: Videogame News
Yeah, big fan of ODST here so this news is very welcome. Still not touched the online side of things just yet but I'd planned to finish a campaign and then try out the multi for that one game and find my favourite to stick to. Instead I jumped straight into Halo 2 and completely forgot so I'm hoping there's no small print for accessing the online modes though I suspect it's only down to being connected online with the console.
Re: Videogame News

Re: Videogame News
Along similar lines, if you want to download a digital version of the GB, GBA or DS versions of Tetris you'll need to get in quick.
Those all go down in the new year now that Ubisoft have the rights to it apparently.

Re: Videogame News
Yep. I snagged Tetris GB on the 3DS eShop this morning after seeing a warning on Twitter. It'll be taken down tomorrow (31/12/2014), apparently. Given that we won't know when the eShop update will remove it until Tetris is gone, grabbing it today might be wise for anyone that wants to.
