Yes!

Do not, I repeat DO NOT, play the Scavenger's Odyssey game on VR Worlds until you've found your VR Legs.

It's important to remember that if you start feeling mildly queasy, don't try and power through, it takes time to get acclimatised. Take a break!

Good luck! You can expect to spend the next while really enjoying the experiences you do have, while undergoing considerable angst about why you don't play it more ;)

Games to keep an eye out in sales as they are the best in class for VR:
Superhot VR
Resi 7

There are also a couple of free 'demo disks' available on PSN that give you a bite sized experience of a range of games.

I appreciate your enthusiasm Harris.

I did initially go for the Super Hot VR game in the bundle, but it was sold out, so went for the GT Sport.

To be honest, I'm not a firm believer in VR, albeit never tried it - so it's a bit of a silly stance but valid I think.

That said, I desperately want to try it and having my own set up will be a ideal situation to paw over and try things at my own pace, this sale is as better an opportunity as any other.

Glad you’re diving in!

It’s a great addition. Agree that resi 7 and superhot are great but I’d add batman VR and job simulator to the list.

I also liked I expect you to die and statik.

Yeah, there are a lot of barriers to entry, hopefully you get on with it. I know loads of people on here have one but you never see it featuring in the Whatcha Been Playing or Completed Games threads.

Quick one here team PlayStation - I'm attempting to buy Moss for the PS4 on my App but it won't let me purchase it.

Is this because I don't have PSVR hooked up to my PlayStation yet and once I do it will activate something that will allow me to buy PSVR required titles ??

This seems sensible but too kind.

I’m pretty sure the PS4 can’t tell if you have VR or not hooked up. I would try “buying” one of the free VR games to see if the problem is the same for those or just moss.

Yeah that doesn’t sound right, Suits. Pretty sure I could go and buy a load of VR games ahead of buying the hardware...

Ah, right.

It only lets me add Moss to my Wishlist - so that’s odd.

I’ll hook it all up and see what it says on the actual console store.

The PS4 actually can tell whether you've got the VR hooked up or not, but that's not why you can't get the games. There must be another reason. Have you tried downloading anything else? Try downloading a free demo or something. Also, check payment details, have you had a new card? Sometimes, also, it just plays up for no reason at all. Give it another try tomorrow maybe?

Yeah, managed to work out what it was, lol.

So for some reason, there's two versions of Moss on the store. One is the actual game and the other is listed a 'Bundle'.

The first result that the search throws up is the bundle version so it seems. So when I clicked on that to buy it, it only allowed me to add it to my wishlist as it's obviously not out yet or is a false listing or whatever.

The 2nd result is the actual game, which allows me to buy the game.

I think it's a combination of my rushed anticipation of just wanting to buy the game and poor layout/search results.

So, by the time I sat down last night after doing what you do of an evening it was pretty late so decided to just unpacked my new PSVR and take a look at it.

It’s pretty good quality thought for what is the low end of the complete VR experience I suppose.

Once I’d had a mooch around it all and sussed it all out I was invested so decided to give it a quick trail run.

Man, there’s some cables with all this isn’t there  and this is the 2nd revision which has less !!!

Anyway, I hooked it all up to my PS4Pro and started it up.

GT Sport had a 45GB download and the other software I had was very quickly downloading but I wanted to jump in quick, the game I had in the drive Wipeout so I booted that up in the headset.

At this point, I’ll add – I’d never even touched a VR headset let alone tried one, so I had no idea what it was going to be like.

Firstly, I was very pleased with how comfortable the headset was and how weirdly natural it felt. I don’t know what I was expecting but it was unnoticeable once you’re invested in what’s being pumped into your eyes.

The Wipeout menu floated in front of me and I was spun out by the open vast white spaces around me as I turned my head – very surreal, very, very cool.

I quickly spammed X to get into the first race and I loaded into the cockpit of my sled in the default VR settings.

Man, what a view, the whole thing, seeing the flaps of my sled balance and float to either side of me and HUD of the sled right in front of my face was – incredible.

Being familiar with a game, then seeing like this was such a rich experience.

I missed the start of the race as I was looking about and getting a used to moving my head about, literally laughing  .

Then I set off and its great, the feeling of inertia and momentum is there, I was lifting my torso and leaning my shoulders as if I was driving a real car on track.

I was caught in two minds, as I wanted to escape the experience for a second to catch my breath but wasn’t sure how to get out of the headset properly and the whole time laughing to myself about how different it was and how immersive it all was too me.

I did a few more races and soon managed to shake the VR naivety from my head and put some proper racing in – which felt great, really, really good.

I then switched it off and left the console to download the games and patches I got with my bundle so that I can properly mess with it tonight and see some other things, maybe use those motion tracker batons I have too.

Two things of note that came as a surprise to me, the lack of quality in the ear buds, sound wise. I appreciate it’s maybe unfair to compare them to my Audio-Techina’s but I certainly noticed the difference and secondly the low resolution of the headset. Which I must add, was only a literally few seconds that I considered it but being used to seeing the game in 4K then stepping down to the lower resolution is obvious but takes nothing away from the experience at all I think.

I’m really looing forward to messing about with this some more and getting some new experiences from games that have never been available to me prior.

The PSN store is totally fucked half the time. The other day I was browsing and it listed Heavy Rain as unavailable, on the grounds I already owned Beyond Two Souls. On the Vita the store hardly ever updates either, you have to go searching. It's still listing Day Of The Tentacle remake as a new game!

Agreed, it's gone to hell recently. I find I'm having to use the search function a lot more to find games. Just browsing isn't cutting it.

I don't use the earbuds at all as I'm not comfortable with the total sensory deprivation it would cause!

Yeah, resolution is not great as they have to crank out a steady 60/80 FPS or whatever it is so that you're not sick

It is impressive for the price, as you say. Glad you're enjoying it.

Really pleased there are still people picking up PSVR and giving it a go. I don't use mine anywhere near as much as I'd like but it's a great bit of kit with such strong and broad line-up of games and experiences now that if they stopped supporting it tomorrow it would still more than justify the price of entry.

Hope you enjoy it!

July 2018 PS+ games are:

Absolver (PS4)
Heavy Rain (PS4)
Rayman 3 HD (PS3)
Extreme Exorcism (PS3)
Space Overlords (PS Vita + PS4)
Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma (PS Vita)

Pleased with those. Two PS4 games I wanted to play and one for the Vita. Good month!

Zero Time Dilemma is not only the worst of the trilogy, but also the type of sequel that completely spoils its predecessors and is very difficult to follow as a standalone game. As much as I love the series, I really can't recommend anyone to jump onto this one without having played the other two to completion beforehand.

Just a friendly warning to avoid some of you inadvertently ruining one of the greatest narratives in recent video game history for yourselves.

Damn I've been meaning to play ZTD since launch but never did due to the poor reception, which is kinda of crazy since I loved VLR and hated its cliffhanger ending which leads directly to ZTD from what I understand, I suppose this is as good time as any to pick this up.

To be fair, ZTD is not an outright terrible game. It just drops the ball in terms of characterization and overall writing to a degree that the others don't. The quality drop is very noticeable, but if you've already played both 999 and VLR, go for it! :)

VLR was given away on PS+ years back, and as someone who has only ever played 999 from the series I'm looking forward to being able to finish the series at some point.
