You'll be able to watch that cave announcement here at 6am on sunday in the UK (I think I've got that right, 15th 2pm japan time)

I'm setting myself up for a fall, I know. Can't help but get excited though. Small case eek, just two e's.

edit: Cave employee speaking about the ios games
[1:40 AM] Shootaro/CAVE-le TV: This is just a beginning. Not just mobile games. Wait for further news
It's on! It's on!

QP Shooting Dangerous and the sequel Xmas Shooting Scramble both on sale. I remember finding it a bit of a headache cycling through the different shot types. I never got 100% comfortable with that I don't think, but the games are great fun.

FullBlast - new assessment

Played this again today with the boy watching me and whooping & cheering (I don’t usually get away with that) using clippa’s farm machinery which makes a huge difference.

It is very easy. It is a very easy platinum (I got it after 5 levels lol) and it’s bland, same environments and music. I smash through levels without getting hit. But I don’t care whatsoever if it’s baby’s first shmup because it was fun! And the budget vibe is endearing somehow. I’m gonna finish it fully (still got a few levels left) and probably do it on Vita too.

Arcade stick makes a world of difference to any shmup man, as long as the ship feels good to fly & shoot, and it does in this. Decent upgrade system too. Pretty shocked I’m coming back and saying this tbh but what the hell, playing it today with the boy has made me feel good. Woo!

Also I played Rolling Gunner for the first time in ages last night, reminding me just how incredible that game is in every way. Anyone who hasn’t got it, you’re missing out!

Yeah I played some of that Full Blast this morning. I didn't really like it. It wasn't offensively bad, just boring. I only played a couple of levels and got about six trophies!

Good to see I'm not the only one getting excited. That makes me feel a lot less of a silly turnip in a dress.

There is definitely something in that. Playing certain games can feel so different depending on what input device you're using, and I'm not just talking about the obvious differences.
Even if the game plays identically on mouse/keyboard/pad, or pad/keyboard/stick, the games can feel very different. What might be boring on one might feel a bit more engaging on the other, for example. I've discovered that recently with a few games. Very interesting, professor.

I looked up that EDF game you were on about, a 1cc on youtube lasted 40 minutes! That's a long old game right there. It looks alright, might give it a try when I'm stuck for something to play.

I mentioned it in the high score thread already, but I tried this cave/touhou mashup called "Dodonpachi Daiueiku" the other day and it's really good - https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0ByYUX7n9 ... t=download

1 hour and 45 minutes to go.

Bring the joy ikeda-san!

Official clippa™ prediction is mahou otome for switch or steam or both, sdoj for steam, or an announcement for a game or two on the exa platform considering they met with them a while back. Anything that isn't a total anti climax is the dream.

Hold me.

Currently playing: Japanese nerd version of greensleeves, still shots of cameltoe cycling shorts models backed by a chip-tune.

Called it. (it was a coincidence)

Deathsmiles 2 on steam? I think? They were all speaking in a funny language.
I'll take it. Could have been a lot worse.

Did they say which platforms? I enjoyed the bit of Death Smiles 1 I played on MAME. It's the one where you can fire left and right, yeah?

They didn't say which platforms. It sounded like they were saying "steam collection" during the stream so pc might be one of them. The deathsmiles 2 arcade was just a pc with a coin slot so it'd be an easy port. Looks like they're out-sourcing the ports and they said multi-platform so it sounds like console too, if not instead of pc, so we'll see.

Yeah, you shoot left and right, they're both great games in my worthless opinion.

Got a run of deathsmiles on my youtube, deathsmiles 2 is very underrated, I think.

If deathsmiles 2 doesn't come out on pc, I'm gonna have a proper foot stamping tantrum. I don't think I let myself contemplate that possible scenario this morning :o

Did anyone else play it? Have you got it on your funky xbox, stanshall? I really like it when it goes 1fps and those tadpoles are swimming right up close, trying to touch you.
The level going up in the caves I remember really liking, that's a big scoring stage like the volcano in the first one, and of course the funfair, that stage is amazing, it slows right down there like a dream, where you fight those dancing teddy bears at the end and that big dozey gog who runs up and down the library going mehhh!
Ha, I'm really looking forward to playing it again.
At the end you fight a boss called "satan claws"!

Still got my best score from the 360 saved here - https://i.imgur.com/f4IJwYa.jpg
Hopefully I can smash that.
Eeeeek!

More to come too! What a world!

I saw you on the stream, I didn't say hello in case I showed you up!

Where is the owl? I'm lonely.
Why is everyone hiding? I can see your big stupid feet sticking out, arseholes.
Deathsmiles double bill, coming to multiple platforms. Say something! Even if it's just a yawn.

I'm here. Just a bit busy on my end and don't have too much time to spend on the forum, otherwise I would have gladly taken the dumb laptop bait this morning.

Had another go on DDPR earlier today and I'm simply not getting anywhere. The scoring system is really opaque, sometimes I get a huge combo at the end of a level that doesn't translate into proper points. I reached the final boss a couple times by now but don't have anything to show for it, unfortunately.

Deathsmiles is low rent X-rated basura, I have absolutely zero interest in it when CAVE have so many superior games that need to be ported first. I'd rather play FullBlast again, tbh. :P

What could possibly be more important than looking after me?
You'd better not have another owl up there.

I was wracking my brains trying to think what you might be referring to there with the laptop comment.
Yeah, that was just a silly daft throw away thing to say. It's been my experience though, I spend a month downloading some 50gb wonder on my crappy internet, get bored after 5 minutes, download some 80mb game and get 500 hours of fun out of it
You do have to wonder what they're compensating for with all those big dining rooms and showy curtains.

I hear you brother, I don't know what the hells going on with DDPR either, can't help you there.

haha, give deathsmiles a chance, there's a good game in there, I promise! You get to fight a cow! Yeah? You've always wanted to fight a cow.

I'm gutted that of all the games they could have chosen to port, they went with...Deathsmiles 2.

Not inherently total shit but the fact that they doubled down on the moe crap and also made the ugliest Cave game ever slightly smarts.

That mobile game they showed was total shit as well.

I will buy all of the above day one.

Yas man! I never had any doubt (I thought you were gonna get smashed again, to be honest and come on here moaning  ), that's 1 all by my reckoning.
You fucking off DFK until you've earned your stripes? I don't blame you. That went straight to the bottom of the pile when I got it on the 360, it's nowhere near as hard as it looks, but it's still a hard game to get into, I think.

Too hungover to play today. No more drink for me, ever. Mean it this time.

Aye they’re not massively into shmups in the group but a couple of them are credentialed ahead of me I reckon. We’ve had the likes of Soldier Blade, Super R Type etc and I’ve never came close to their scores. Considering EDF felt absolute nails at first I’m pleasantly surprised.

I haven’t played Deathsmiles 2, but the first one I really like - having played Rolling Gunner first you can tell there are similarities. The art might put some off but it doesn’t bother me honestly, I’m all about the mechanics and it feels great to play to me. I’m gonna smash the steam game when I get some time.

As for DFK, it’s definitely not been fucked off but I’m struggling for solo time with my laptop and arcade stick. Also I played it a bit and can’t get near my high score anymore which seems odd. I don’t really understand the scoring either. It’s a lot of fun though. I will get more out of novice mode tbh

I played some more Fast Striker on Vita too which has a great trance soundtrack. It’s old in feel, a Dreamcast / Neo Geo port (albeit posthumous for those consoles) and lacking in glitz & glamour but it’s got something. Has anyone else played it?
