The Cane and Rinse podcast Volume 9 (2020)

Post by ratsoalbion »

The schedule for #caneandrinse Volume 9 (2020) exists! The plan is to reveal it at Christmas (Patreon supporters) and the New Year (non-patrons). It's another belter.

Will there be another cool video montage where we have to try to identify the games? That was good the other year!

Jay and Jacob are both working on videos.

It’s not mandatory for Patrons to keep it a secret, though you could have some fun lording over the tightwads who don’t think what we provide is worth 18 pence per week...

What was the internal consensus on doing the Final Fantasy series - did it work well, is it something you'd do again (ie deal with many entries in a series in one season), were you guys exhausted at the end, etc?

I for one will take both my secret keeping and lording over duties very seriously.

Yeah I wondered that. There can't be many series out there that would require the same scope and effort as Final Fantasy. Sure there are big series, but none with so many games, and even then none with such lengthy games. Zelda is probably closest that I can think of, but even those game - BOTW aside - don't really come close to FF in terms of time required.

Doing FF was much as we expected; a lot of effort but worthwhile! My eyes were bigger than my free time and I ended up dropping out of a few that I had really wanted to be a part of. Massive props to the rest of the team and especially Josh and Leah for having my back.

I’m not sure an FF show every other month was good or bad for our listeners. Some and some I expect.

We’re starting another epic new series this year, but the shows will be further apart.

Right - it's guessing time!

Everyone is allowed two picks, and we'll see who's right when the list is announced. If you can add some reasoning for your guesses, all the better.

My two guesses are:

Metroid series - it's currently one of the biggest glaring ommisions from the show. There's no way it'll never get done, and I think it might be next year.

Castlevania series - seems like the other likely choice. Epic is right, there are LOADS of games in the series.

Hmm, what do you think?

I’d have gone for those two you’ve chosen to be honest.

But in good sport, although I can only think of one...

1 - Super Mario Land series. Cause it’s epic and the Wario games are incredibly fun and varied.

Well strictly speaking you didn’t *do* all the final fantasy games...

I kid, I doubt you’d want to spend your time digging through chocobo racing or *shudder* the dissidia games.

(I just want one on Tactics, you know you want to... :) )

*All* the other FF games remain in the list. It might be a while though... :P

Can't wait to see the list!

And will definitely "have some fun lording over the tightwads" (lovely turn of phrase Leon!)

For all the non Patreon supporters out there I will happily leak the list to you for the small price of only $1 per month!

What's that? It would be easier for you to just support the Patreon yourself? Well how about that!

If that was true I would've liked to have seen you do Skyrim :D

Elder Scrolls as a guess

Call Of Duty as a left field one

Is this at the $1 tier? This sounds like the best idea ever!
