I’ve probably mentioned it before, but my best is probably the PS1 copy of Symphony of the Night that I have, with the artbook and soundtrack disc, that I got for 16 quid from a game station second hand bin. Now it’s not really a retro find, cause I bought it while the PS1 was still the main live platform, but the price appreciation amuses me still.

I guess my best actual retro buy is probably still finding Pier Solar for the Megadrive for something approaching a normal price, but does that even count as retro?

SotN for anything under £200 now is a bargain 😄.

Yeah, that’s a great piece to have, especially with the book.

Tempting and I really appreciate it, but I'll pass. Don't want to fall into that collecting rabbit hole as well and to tell you the truth, I'm more of a big screen person anyway. Only times I ever play handheld is on trips or long commutes, so I'm good with having some of the GB essentials as VC downloads on my 3DS.

What I'm hearing is that you're a man in need of the GameCube Gameboy player!

Had a bit of a retro shopping spree over the past few weeks.

Resident Evil Zero, Remake, RE2 & RE3 (all GC US versions)
A couple of sweet RE4 bonus / demo discs that I was missing until now.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GC, US version) (FINALLY)
Battalion Wars (GC)
Battalion Wars 2 (Wii)
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (WiiU)
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War (Super Famicom, boxed)
Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword (GBA, US version)
Kirby & the Amazing Mirror (GBA, JPN version)
Gunstar Future Heroes (GBA)
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA)
Iridion 2 (GBA)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA)
Namco Museum 50th Anniversary (GBA, US version)
Need For Speed: Underground 2 (Xbox) (I was tempted to buy it again and Scrustle's posts sealed the deal for me.)
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Xbox) (One of the few games I regret parting with, that mistake has now been rectified.)

Plus a neat region-free chipped GameCube  and a modded Game Boy Advance with a marvelous IPS screen  .

And some new stuff as well:

Judgment (PS4)
Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PS4)
Death Stranding (PS4) (Let's goooooo)
Plus Left Alive (PS4) for a quick laugh.

Nice one! I've been considering grabbing a CRT myself recently. Only problem is that I probably wouldn't have enough space to store it in. Please do post those pics! :P

Quick question.

I’m thinking of buying an OSSC to play my old consoles on my flatscreen but I wondered how rhythm action games fared using it e.g guitar hero, rhythm heaven series, donkey konga etc.

Any feedback as a google search hasn’t thrown up much info.

The only sort of knowledge I have is that people who care about this sort of stuff really rate OSSC’s like the Framemeister for matters such as yours.

I don’t think I’ve heard any serious negativity surrounding processing lag etc...

There was a production issue with the FM last I heard though - I think they were stopping production due to the development of a series 2 version.

OSSC boasts nil-to-negligable lag over Framemeister.

From the Videogameperfection website:
Unlike other scalers, such as the XRGB Mini, the OSSC works on individual scanlines rather than a frame at a time, that means there’s no input lag whatsoever (well, a few nanoseconds if you really want to be precise).
Reviews and tests seem to back that up.

I got one for streaming purposes, not to connect my older consoles to my flatscreen and I haven't tried it out yet, either.

After one Brewdog too many I have bought myself one of these just now and will be giving Donkey Konga a go. I’ll feed back when it arrives tomorrow. What says Christmas more than Bongos?

So I tried both Donkey Konga games on my original wii which has the GameCube bits and pieces on the side.

It plays perfectly and looks better than it ever did on my CRT. Tried beat the beat rhythm heaven/paradise and again the timing is spot on and it looks brilliant!

Very impressed. So far I’ve tried my ps1, ps2 and wii on it using component and RGB scart inputs. Only issue still to resolve are light gun games which still need the CRT.

Fingers crossed re: the sinden light gun

Good to hear! You still get the regular flatscreen lag, but the OSSC doesn't introduce any additional, so that seems to work well for you.
