Given the recent history of the series, I'm gonna need to see a LOT more gameplay before I get excited...

Peach as a bad guy and Bowser as an ally is funny .

Someone on Twitter pointed me to this clip, presumably from the Japanese trailer, which shows a bit more of the combat, and it looks potentially promising.

Yeah, specifically the combat system.JadePhoenix wrote: ↑May 14th, 2020, 2:21 pm Given the recent history of the series, I'm gonna need to see a LOT more gameplay before I get excited...
Hmm, not convinced by the clip above. They showed a second of it on the main trailer - I wonder why they wouldn't show more combat...
Mind you, I think I just want ports of the first two games in the series really. Going to keep an eye on this though, and hope it's tailored precisely to my requirements

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
So it's the Color Splash combat system sans consumable attacks? That sounds good on paper (pun not necessarily intended), but it also lacks a bit of the variety that came from the earlier games in the series. Timed button presses keep your attention, but having to learn new systems and/or consider the risks of doing a lot of damage to one enemy or doing a bit to all of them is just as important.
I'm also not sure how I feel about the whole "spin the arena" thing. I get why it's there, but I fear it will amount to nothing more but padding before battles unless they get convoluted enough. (Speaking of padding, if there's no experience to be gained from fighting enemies... woof.)

I’m pretty much with you on all that.NoMoreSpearows wrote: ↑May 14th, 2020, 6:19 pm So it's the Color Splash combat system sans consumable attacks? In fact, I actually loved the writing in Color Splash, it was the combat that let it down.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
Don't even joke about that.
Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
Honestly, me Dez and Simon has a wicked time with this the back end of last year.
We played it solidly over a few weeks, online with our 3DS’s and finished it as a group.
A new, updated version, on the Switch would be very welcome.
The worst thing about that game is the Metroid in the title, it did it no favours at all.
Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
Some new SNES and NES games coming next week.
Really pleased about Wild Guns. (Although an odd choice considering the more expensive 'reloaded' version is available on the eShop too.)
That Operation Logic Bomb looks fairly cool too.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
Does anyone find it odd that Nintendo revealed Paper Mario not via a Nintendo Direct? It seems odd to me when they have done Directs for a lot less.
Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
Wild Guns Reloaded is great, a really good update of the original that adds 4 player co-op and a whole bunch of new levels. (I have a physical copy of the US release because for some reason it’s only available digitally in Europe)
The original is of course great too.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
I have seen the PS4 version of Wild Guns as low as $10 used, and I did own it once upon a time. Not really my thing. But I think the "Reloaded" version hasn't exactly been a sales success, I see it in bargain bins EVERYWHERE usually priced at $20-30. So if the publisher did, indeed, have trouble selling it, they may not even be cannibalizing their own sales; and the extra Nintendo bank was probably welcome.
Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
It's also on PS Now. I tried it a while ago and thought it was pretty fun.

Drug Dealer Simulator coming to Switch. Remember that Nintendo seal of quality?

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
Thing is, it'll be utter garbage and wouldn't have been bought by anyone, except the games media (and Daily Mail) will probably do a great job of bringing it to everyone's attention and it'll climb the charts with ease.
Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
It’s a pretty successful streamer game, which probably won’t surprise you.
