My co-host of the All the Books Show and I have started a new show. Just us talking about what comic books we're reading at the moment.

Re: Shameless Self Promotion
I'm back on my BS: Updating my photo mode Instagram account again; started in 2018, features captures from games like Assassin's Creed, Horizon Zero Dawn, Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Uncharted and other stuff that I happen to play.
Warning: Currently including snaps I took during my playthrough of The Last of Us Part II which may constitute visual spoilers! If you haven't finished it yet, I would stay away from tags related to the game altogether.

Re: Shameless Self Promotion
Sorry to shamelessly self-promote twice in one day, but I put a review of The Last of Us Part II on Medium and it is currently on the homepage for "gaming" as a topic, which is quite exciting. Again, masses of spoilers so do not read if you aren't finished yet. If you are, here's the link:

I started a YouTube-channel during quarantine. I'm talking about video games and movies, mostly essays, but in danish ... sooooo if you speak danish or just want to listen to it, you could give it a go

Re: Shameless Self Promotion
Wrote a thing about a game that everyone knows about and most love, and surely there's little left to say about it or its remake prospects? Everyone else has had years to write about this beast of a game though and I only just got into it, so why shouldn't I get stuck in too! Better late than never.

I returned to my mission to individually write up every level in the Dishonored series. The first mission of Dishonored 2 is reviewed below. It's like Bonfireside Chat but with only one bloke and written down!

Just bumping this up to the top as I am really enjoying it!Michiel K wrote: ↑February 24th, 2020, 9:23 pm If we're not connected on social media, then you might not know that me and Ben of One Credit Classics fame have started a podcast venture of our own together.
It's called Video Wizards and it's a monthly, so still good to combine with my contributions to Cane and Rinse. In it we look back at the same month in a random year in the '80s and '90s, all time capsule-like. The meat of the show consists of the arcade games that came out and were around in that moment in time, but we frame everything with discussion of the news of the day, our personal memories, our home gaming situation, music, film and TV.
We set out to create something different from Cane and Rinse and so there is definitely a format and a structure, but within that, the conversations can go anywhere and they often do. Also, while teaching myself to edit audio, with the invaluable experience I got from being part of Cane and Rinse, it crept up on us that we wanted to make Video Wizards a bit of an audio experience as well, so you'll find some ambient background sounds and fragments and bits of music that underscore what we're talking about.
Me and Ben have a ridiculous amount of fun making this, even just in the research phases, messaging each other with our finds and discoveries and definitely on the recordings, so we hope that much is apparent.
We've put out a pilot episode and an official first episode, on January '87 and February '89. We're looking into getting our second episode, on March '91, out soon as well, so we can fall into our ideal schedule of releasing a new one every first Monday of a new month.
Do check us out on our website, but you can also find us on Apple Podcasts, Player FM or your favourite Android podcast app, if you search for Video Wizards Podcast. We hope you subscribe and enjoy the show!

It's a great show, incredibly comforting and gently funny, always full of moments where I feel like I've learned something new about my own youth which is a lovely feeling.

I've not done much writing in earnest for about ten years but, err, here's a review I did for Mental Health Gaming, with more to come:

Thanks, guys! Currentlty editing the next one, about August 1990.
That was a fine, nuanced review, Stanshall. Get a bit of a Pilotwings 64 impression from what you write about the challenge of shard collecting.

Cheers, Michiel. I never played it but I'll bow to your knowledge on that one! Good little game potentially but needs some tweaking.
And looking forward to the next VW! That's right in the pocket for me, fond memories.

Oh, mate, that is too kind, but I appreciate it!Simonsloth wrote: ↑August 12th, 2020, 12:11 pm Really enjoyed reading your review. Hopefully it’s not another 10 years till the next one as I believe, my friend , that you have a gift.
I've missed an outlet beyond work and leisure over the last few years and I figure it'll get me playing different things, in any case. I hope all's well at your end.

Re: Shameless Self Promotion
My wife and I have just started a new podcast, 90s Music Got Me Like...
Every episode, we pick one song from the 90s and talk about it, share stories, ect. We just released the first episode about "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors. Next week is Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.
It's 25 minutes, as my goal with this show is to keep it light and fun.

Nice to see another proud owner of the classic Big Willie Style album. I remember my mum and dad cracking up when that arrived in the post back in the day.

Huh, that's interesting. I never imagined Tubthumbing was a hit over in the US. It just always seemed like such a 'British' thing to me, the way it got appropriated by the British drinking lads-night-out culture, and seemed to be associated with football and stuff too. Just surprised me is all!duskvstweak wrote: ↑August 26th, 2020, 6:07 pm My wife and I have just started a new podcast, 90s Music Got Me Like...

Re: Shameless Self Promotion
IT WAS EVERYWHERE. Seriously, it was huge over here. At sport events, in movie/show commercials, on the radio all the time. But, I do remember people making a big deal with the phrase "pissing the night away" being on the radio.Alex79uk wrote: ↑August 27th, 2020, 3:40 pmHuh, that's interesting. Personally, I love the whole album...
Thanks! And, yeah, that and Willennium, but Big Willie Style is so much more 90s.Jon Cheetham wrote: ↑August 27th, 2020, 12:00 pm Nice to see another proud owner of the classic Big Willie Style album. I remember my mum and dad cracking up when that arrived in the post back in the day.

Defo gonna check that out, Eric. It's my era!
Here's another review I did for Mental Health Gaming, I'm quite happy with this one, I think I gave it a decent write-up. It's for the game Paratopic which came out recently on Switch. It's a psychological horror 'walking sim' with a fantastic soundtrack. Very short, worth a few replays to uncover everything that's happening. Multiple perspectives and a kind of wraparound narrative. Exactly my mood at the moment.
