30 day trial of Disney+ for Xbox gamepass ultimate subscribers (who don’t already have a Disney+ account, it’s only for new ones)

I was delighted to see that Planet Coaster will be on Game Pass. I do already have it on PC but I haven't put as much time into it as I would have liked, whereas I think I would be more likely to play it on my Xbox.

Tetris Effect and Gears Tactics join gamepass today as well.

and if you have Ultimate, then from today you get everything in EA Play as well (including Jedi Fallen Order at some point)

(From that, outside of the obvious great games I’d suggest playing Alice: Madness Returns)

From the team so far we have Tony, Karl and Chris with Series Xs, and Darren is awaiting delivery of his Series S.

It's been sat staring at me on my desk since about 9am this morning. Not going to get chance to unbox until work is done and kids are in bed! Damn love and life choices!

Will do! I'm Cpt Rip Murdock on Xbox (was never smart or joined up enough to have the same name everywhere, and now it's just too late...)

I collected mine from Game a little before 8am but knew I would have to wait till I got home to play it. Nipped home at lunch to get it downloading bits and pieces to play when I got home.

Took me 90 minutes to get onto destiny 2 as it’s servers were exploding. When I did get on it was prettier and faster but it’s destiny.

Gave fuser a go with Dez in co-op and it seemed pretty fun but once I delved into the campaign I started falling down the harmonix rabbit hole again. It’s essentially dropmix without the cards. I bought all of the dropmix cards bar a few rarities so I’m worried about my credit card right now.

The finish on the new controller is really nice but I’m not keen on the d-pad yet. All in all the little box is a speedy silent package which I’m pleased with. It makes a nice upgrade from my Xbox one S.

I had a good session on the X with Gears Tactics last night. Really enjoying the game and it looks great too. It supposed to be running at 60fps but given the slow nature of the gameplay, you don't really notice it. Dirt 5 should be arriving today so that I'm sure will be noticeable.

It does just feel more like an evolution rather than revolution, but at this point I think that's mainly due to the lack of next gen only games on it. I was very impressed by how quickly it started up from cold in a matter of seconds, and then the quick loading times for Gears Tactics.

Initial impressions of the Series X are really positive!

For starters they put some real effort into the unboxing experience. Just a really nicely thought out and put together way of presenting you with the machine for the first time, and it all just felt a bit special.

The console itself is actually a really nice thing, and much smaller in the flesh that I expected. It feels like a really high quality, well engineered piece of tech, and it is DENSE. You get the feeling there is not a spare millimetre in there unaccounted for!

Really looking forward to receiving the PS5 in a week or so to compare the systems form factors actually. It seems on the face of it Sony's solution to heat dissipation is to just make a massive version of a traditional console form factor (which it is really when you look past the swooshy plastic), vs Microsoft who seem to have taken a blank sheet of paper and can completely reengineered what a console can be.

Set up of the Series X was super easy (the mobile app worked seamlessly for me), and the whole thing just feels incredibly fast and responsive. It boots really quickly even from a fully powered down state, and when you're in the menus and jumping between things everything just feels pretty instantaneous.

My one heads up for people transferring from a previous Xbox is I'd recommend backing everything up to a USB HDD and porting it over that way rather than using the network transfer method, which takes ages even if you've got fast wifi connection.

Going to get stuck into Dirt 5 tonight! Can't wait!

Not sure if anyone is already aware but Xbox are doing this scheme in January where they will match any gamerscore points with MS reward points up to 10,000. I signed up to MS rewards just before Christmas and have accumulated 8000 reward points already just by using Bing instead of Google, doing their 2 minute daily quiz when I log in for work each day and through playing Doom Eternal on game pass, so it's quite easy to rack up a decent amount of points without doing much outside what you would normally do.

You can see what you can get for your reward points but as an example I was able to get £5 Xbox store credit for 6000 points the other day. I know people that accumulate hundreds of pounds worth of Tesco vouchers through doing the game pass daily/weekly/monthly quests if you get through game pass games quite quickly.

FYI, Xbox is now tracking your playtime for all games which gets me more excited than it should. I have only checked the Xbox PC app but it's working on there and tracks both games you've played on Xbox and PC.

I know this says Xbox One, but does anyone know for sure, will it also work on a controller that comes bundled with the Series X or S? They're the exact same controllers right?
