Shaving a quarter of your time off in just over a week is amazing. There's still a few little things that can save time, but a lot of it is RNG. I'm not sure on what the best time is on this type of run without glitches, but I reckon you would push it.
24:14 is the top time but I'm wasting a lot of time getting Varia Suit, High Jump and Screw Attack.
I want to get sub 36 on the run we're on, and then try stripping away the safety items to see how fast we can go.

Congratulations again Ben. Love that the chat just stopped after the mega first split time, we all tensed up.
Hahahah everyone legitimately stopped didn't they.
Too funny. What a fantastic stream.
Had a few runs on Saturday at a new path without Varia/Screw Attack. It's tough but doable. I was on some really fast times but died twice in Tourian when I didn't get any missiles from the Metroids. I'll get it down soon though. Excited to see what the time is.
First full run of the No Varia Suit path.
It's tougher, but doable.
I got some terrible RNG and still have a lot of time to save in certain areas.
I feel like sub 30 is a realistic goal.
I'll maybe have to ditch the high jump boots but I'm not ruling out being able to make that time with them.
It's a benchmark. It's also the 8th quickest time on All Bosses/Classic that exists.
Thanks so much my friend.
It's been so much fun to try and get better, piece by piece.
After Sub 30 All Bosses/Classic, we move to 100% No Death.
I'm looking forward to that one.
Thanks my friend. Taking a bit of a jaunt away from Metroid at the moment to try and get Castlevania 3, but we'll be back. 100% seems the next task on the agena.
Can't believe I didn't post this on here, when I got it!
I ended up getting 28:32, when I recorded this take without any commentary, before I went to bed. I started recording all my practice runs because I couldn't risk missing a great time. It's a pretty crazy run tbh, I wanted sub 30 minutes, I didn't even think that a sub 29 was possible.
At the time when I uploaded it, it was ranked 5th in the World on Speedrun.com
It took me 42 days from never playing Metroid to getting a sub 30 minutes, top 5 speedrun.
I still play it now and again, and honestly feel like I should try and do 100% in under an hour, but I've got a few other things I'm working on at the moment.
The best part for me now, is that I can complete it 99% of the time now, in under an hour and it seems quite easy because of the benefits of getting more tanks and the Varia Suit.
This adventure isn't over, but this chapter is.
We can all achieve things like this.
It just takes time and a bit of hard work.
Don't give up when things get tough and good things will happen.
