I'm not that familiar with the genre, but I think a large section of VNs are romance games many of which don't really have puzzles. Think Hatoful Boyfriend or Doki Doki Literature club but played straight.

The puzzles in the Phoenix Wright games are more of the ‘use correct thing on correct thing’ variety, rather than the sort of thing you’d get in a Professor Layton game.

£13,99 for Detroit. A steal at that price. I loved it and it will be in my top 3 this year

No I am being deadly serious. May even be my game of the year although currently Fallout 76 is giving it a run for its money. I mean the best game I have played this year is Yakuza 0 but doesn't count.
I would buy it then finish it then game are currently offering £25 trade in I believe?

My final question on the visual novel thing: are there any VNs that don't have puzzles attached, or are they baked into the genre?
Puzzles aren't always integrated: it's really more about branching paths in the storyline. Stein;Gate does this in a way that isn't always obvious (you'll make decisions without realising you're making decisions), and I will admit to referring on occasion to a walk-through just to get some of the remaining endings.
Because so much more rests on narrative rather than gameplay, your mileage will ultimately come down to your tolerance towards anime/manga tropes.
And time... man, there are so many I'm yet to start. The occasional VN mixed in with other genre's keep everything fresh!

Did you get it?
I did but had was able to return it within a couple of days and the guy at the counter said I was one of many! The iOS app is better in my opinion. A absolutely shameless cash in.
(Sorry if you like it)

Mario Odyssey is £33 on the eshop. Used my Gold Points against it and it came to £22. Lovely stuff. Looking forward to that one.

Smyths and Gamestop Ireland both ....
Man, the whirlwind relationship you have with consoles/games is something else.

Anything longer than that and my hunger and curiosity kicks in.
Yeah, I struggle with long games, especially ones I approach on a whim.
For instance, Horizon, I looked at because I felt I had to look at it and never quite got into that.
RDR2 I was very excited for and prepared to sit at for days - then didn’t quite enjoy playing that very much.
Shorter, or seemingly shooter games I find much more approachable.

I don't know if it's just me, but Black Friday seems very underwhelming this year. A couple of years ago we were seeing absolutely mental flash sales and stampedes in shopping centres. I've been out and about today, and in most shops you'd genuinely not know anything was happening.
My extent of Black Friday splurging has been limited to £3.99 for God Of War 1 and 2 on Vita on the PSN sale.
Woo, and indeed hoo.
$$$$

I don't think I had ever even heard of Black Friday until a couple of years ago, so I'm still reeling from the culture shock of watching videos and hearing reports of people stomping each other over some corporation-induced capitalistic frenzy. Complete aberration.

Yeah it's only really been a thing in the UK for a few years. I think it was only 2-3 years ago was the first 'big' one, where people were getting trampled in Asda and the like.

Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) have made their way down under in recent years too, because, well, capitalism.
It's a great day to stay home and catch up with housework. 5 stars.
