Also I keep going for knife kills, I love them (my second highest weapon for kills) but its cost me a few times when they've either seen me before or I screw it up.

Quick question, in the multiplayer trailer there is a clip of a team jumping off a dam or something on a map to an area below. I've been dying to do that which map is it?
That map is Damavand Peak on Rush Mode only.

The thing about the weapons is adapt each gun for the map you are playing on for example; don't slap an ACOG or IR scope (or any of the x3 or x4 for that matter) on any of the Close Quarters maps. They take a split second longer to scope in on something and obscure peripheral vision too, making it that much easier to get caught out by the opposing side. Instead opt for RDS or Holographics, as they have a quicker "snap-to" and allow you to see your surroundings better. On the larger maps, you're free to use whatever scopes you like as you have the range. I personally favour the high rate of fire weapons on the CQ maps, such as Support class with P90 attached with holographic, laser sight and flash supp. or Medic class with AUG A3 attached with Holographic, foregrip and heavy barrel.

Do you not find that fitting a heavy barrel makes the gun kick back a lot?

I tend to stick with a single gun for a long time to get used to it, and sometimes try swapping up the attachments, and whenever Iv'e tried using a heavy barrel, i find my aim drifting skyward a bit too rapidly for my liking.

Sound advice on scopes though Jay, I've got holo sights on everything for the Close quarters maps.

Sure, but there are several aspects with this - kick back is less of a concern on the CQ due to the usual close proximity of the targets, also when aiming at someone I go for center mass shots so even if the shots drift up they tend to connect. Lastly, and possibly most importantly as this applies to pretty much every gun in the game, I use quick trigger presses to give me burst fire rather than just hold the trigger down and spray. This keeps your aim fairly tight even when using the heavy barrel.

Thanks for the tips, the M416 is probably the best gun I've got I think, I need to tinker with my load outs more I think.

"Do you not find that fitting a heavy barrel makes the gun kick back a lot?"

Heavy barrel makes front mag loading rifles & carbines kick more, eg: Aek, M416, Scar, Ak's, etc. but fitted to bullpop rifles/carbines, eg: Aug, QBZ, F2000, Famas, they actually increase accuracy in short to mid range skirmishes. The reason being weight balance, in bullpop guns the magazine is behind the trigger & adding a heavy barrel evens out the weapons weight distribution, hence, less recoil & sway. Heavy barrel on front mag weapons is a no no as the gun is front heavy now with added imbalance & recoil.
I think i should do a seperate thread for tips sections. :D

Y'know, with all this talk of bullet physics and accurately weighted modeling of weapons it's quite clear how far shooters have come since those heady days of Doom - fascinating stuff.

Another point I think which is important is the level of research that has went into this game in order for us to even be discussing the merits of heavy barrels etc, you've just got to take the time to look at what they are updating every time a patch comes out to appreciate how far the designers go to make this as "realistic" as possible.

you joke, but I think there are enough people here that would find it interesting, and enough people here that would find it helpful.

I'm currently having a go with the support class

I'm using the M240B with foregrip, holo sight and flash suppressor, Got a nice range on it, and it doesn't kick back much.

For my secondary I'm using the raffica (93R), I like having burst fire on a pistol

My perk is squad suppression

Gadget 2 is C4, Fum told me that C4 was fun, so I've been tank busting, and leaving C4 in strategic places.

The 93R is an awesome weapon when it comes down to the nitty gritty. Though if your using a suppressor on your main gun(so not to show up on the mini map presumably) then the G18 w/suppressor is prob a better handgun to use. The Raffica will light you up on radar when used. The G18 has the semi auto fire rate similar to the 93R without giving away location. Also, when running from point to point when using support class, equip the hand gun as running with an LMG in your hands hinders pace. Your quicker when its on your back and its quick to snap through weapons when needed.

Went on BF3 last night & had a mixed expierience. Firstly the issue of losing connection to EA servers problem seems to have reered its ugly head again. Have had no problems for weeks & all of a sudden im losing connection left right & centre, very frustrating, as these games go down as me quitting & end up as a loss.
Then i had a cracking match on Alborz while playing assault, went 33-10, all kills with the AEK & knife, was happy with that considering that the new maps are very vehicle heavy & assault class is rather exposed on them. Cant kill a tank destroyer with de-fibs unfortunately.
As always with BF3, i shouldve quit while i was ahead, lost connection again & again, playing this game in a pissed off state leads to me dying alot, hence, a vicious cirle. Had two of the worst games ive had in months, went 5-11 on one & 2-8 on another, absolute pants :x
Lost connection again, then called it a night. I guess this is why i can love & loath this game all at once. When your winning you want to keep playing & when you lose, its the, just one more game attitude to right the wrongs at which you feel you have been dealt. Personally, i have to be in the right mood/frame of mind to play well in this game. If im distracted or not concentrating, im dying.

I thought that was just me and my Xbox being janky.
It also happened to me after having been admin kicked from 3 games in a row. There's such a satisfying feeling about joining a game in progress where the team i've joined is miles behind and turning the game around, then only to be kicked about 10 seconds after getting a nemsis ribbon

it's not always a question of skill,
I've been kick/banned before for using different weapons or shooting down helicopters.
Sadly on private servers, there's an awful lot of admins out there with a bit of a princess complex...

Just do what i started doing and report them on Battlelog. Basically these guys are only out for stats padding & if you piss on their parade you get kicked/banned. Dice seem to welcome any legitimate complaint that an admin is abusing their position of authority on a server & look into your complaint as they can monitor all the servers stats.
