I actually quite like that one. It still kind of has the same problems that I have with other top-downs, but they seemed less egregious than some others. I like the miniaturising mechanic too.
Anyway, today I've been playing a load of Forza. Not Forza 5 though. I started off playing that because I wanted to try and work on my drift setup some more. I just can't get it fucking working. It's a real pain. The window of grip you have is so tiny. You can hardly push the car at all and it just slips away from you so quickly and with almost no warning, and there's nothing you can do to save it most of the time. It seems like every car is like that. And every time I try to change my tune setup to try to make it better, it just makes it worse every time. Kerbs are evil as well. If you touch them mid-drift, it's almost always an instant spin-out. So yeah, I quickly got frustrated with it. To be honest, I think I'm already starting to feel my interest in that game waning away. Normal driving is still fun, but the career mode is really short. Or short for a Forza career at least. The way it's structured isn't as good as the Season Play mode in 3 and 4. And of course there's the lack of general content constantly dampening the experience. And the aggravating AI. At least the Prague track is good.
But anyway, I decided to go play Forza 4 again, and actually had a really great time with it. Probably the longest session I've had on it since Forza 5 came out. Just joined in some random drift lobbies online. Another thing you can't do in Forza 5. But yeah, it was good going back and playing around with cars I can actually use. Usually I find going back to older Forzas is a bit tough, because I've forgotten how to drift in that particular game. Takes a while to get used to it again. Had no problem this time though. Although I guess I haven't been away long, and still haven't got used to 5 yet. But yeah, I enjoyed going back to that and driving cars that aren't in 5, on tracks that aren't in 5 either.
Then that lead me to boot up Forza 3, which I haven't been on properly for an absolute age. Started off just messing around with an old drift car on that too, but I have kind of lost my touch on that game. I'll need to practice a bit more to get that back. Although, perhaps not so much. The other day a friend and I decided to have a quick go on Forza 2 just for a laugh. Picked up drifting in that again pretty easily. So maybe I could have picked up 3 again if I tried a little more. But instead of that, I played a whole lot of career races. Had a go on some tracks that are only in 3. There were some great tracks in that game that weren't in any other Forza. I also did one of the endurance races too. Another thing later Forza games dropped. 1 hour and 6 minutes on Silverstone. Perfect time to catch up on some podcasts though. I'm also kind of aiming to get 100% completion in that game too. I'm quite a long way off, but I'm still trying to get there one day. And when I do it'll be one of the very few games I'll have ever got 100% of the achievements on too.
Played a little of TDU2 as well. I forgot what bollocks the career mode is on that. I've almost finished it, so I went back to it to try that last push today, but it's just such wank I couldn't stomach more than a few races. I still like the game, but the career is so terrible. It's so unbalanced too. The normal races against AI are piss easy, because the AI in the game is utterly awful. But other events are brutally hard. But the physics in that game are a bit wonky, so you can be totally screwed over by going over a jump a certain way, leading to your car to do a random barrel roll out of nowhere and destroying that attempt at the event. That actually happened to me today. Also, the way this particular tournament it organised make it even worse. Usually you can pick what order you do individual events in, and it doesn't really matter if you don't win all of them because it's based on a points total. But with this tournament I'm on, you have to do each event in order, and you need to win every single one to progress. So fucking annoying. And there's that idiotic voice over too at the beginning of every race. Ugh. At least you don't get it again when you restart an event.
