Some new gameplay footage from King of Fighters 14 (PS4 exclusive, 2016)

Now I love the KoF series, game 13 is amazing to watch at high level play as well. But this... this looks awful. The art direction is so generic and bland, it doesn't compare favourably with Street Fighter 5 or Guilty Gear XRD. SNK said they don't want to go the 2d sprite route anymore because it's extremely expensive (time consuming mainly, time is money after all). But this looks like early 360 levels of visuals at this stage. Perhaps they're just showing it too soon.

Here's some footage of the current version of Guilty Gear to show you how those guys have tackled the '2d sprites are tough, how can we make our 3d work look like our old 2d work' problem. (GG XRD is in the Unreal 3 engine IIRC). You'd think this was sprite based until you see the camera rotation work.

Yes, he came in on some of the Resogun DLC stuff.

My Defender/Robotron-worshipping self is excited, but then I consider Jarvis' output over the past 30 years or so...

They didn't for quite a while, the company that owned the brand sank without trace, but it seems someone finally got around to digging it up again.

Overwatch is looking fantastic, I thought it was going to be the f2p model like heroes of the storm, but it's not. Full price release, all 21 characters available. Here's the new footage they showed today. Loving the character diversity.

Gameplay is being balanced to encourage you to change character constantly during a match. So pick, counter pick, counter counter pick etc...

In a world where TF2 is free and MOBAs are free I really dont understand why they opted out of a free to play model,I expect the Blizzard faithfull to pick this up but for the regular people that have a bunch of other options I really dont see how this game can be successfull especially since is multiplayer only ,I'd be interested to see how this does once it's out and if it proves me wrong, because personally I was interested in giving this a try but now there's a paywall there im not touching it and I'd guess alot of people are thinking the same.

PS: The starcraft pro player character is awesome though XD

Titanfall wasn't f2p and was mp only and did pretty well for it.

Really?I never looked at the numbers but I thought it flopped well the more you know, but the game is coming out on consoles too so that will probably increase sales, I guess where Im coming from is that China,Russia and LatinAmerica wont adopt this game, the western markets probably can make up the cost but I dont know if the game will be as big of a deal when it launches as Blizzard want it to be,we'll have to wait and see I guess.

I'll be very interested to see if Mr. Kimishima presents the intro to this or weather it'll be Miyamoto perhaps?

PLEASE have some Wii U Zelda footage. And maybe Pikmin 4. And possibly a remastered F-Zero GX. And ideally a new Metroid. And confirmation there are 30 new Wii U titles coming in 2016 so I don't have to buy a new console...

I don't expect we will see Zelda U footage out of this. If there was they would have probably told us that was coming. Also it seems like a game that they would want to show off at a bigger event, like whatever big trade show is coming up next, rather than one of these little streams. Especially now since we haven't seen it for a while. They might use Directs to trickle out extra news after a big showing, but it's been so long that whatever comes next will probably be some kind of re-reveal. The cross-generational Twilight Princess thing seems to get more likely as time goes on.

Speaking of Twilight Princess, I've heard rumours that they might announce that HD version in this Direct. That seems like it could be plausible. Since Zelda U is taking so long, they might feel the need to give us another stop-gap release for this year. With the game showing up on that eShop data mine someone did a release coming up soon seems reasonable as well.

I've also heard they might be announcing something new for Splatoon, like a new mode or something. Some significant addition at least.

But these are all just rumours floating around various places. There's probably not much to them, so I won't get my hopes up. Before every Direct there's always rumours floating around about how it's going to be mind-blowing and make everyone's dreams come true. Only the big trade show streams ever announce anything particularly significant.

That said, I expect we will probably get some more info on Xenoblade, as well as other games coming out soon. I'd like to see a final release date for Fast Racing Neo at least. That's supposed to be coming out really soon, but there's still been no solid release date. I imagine if they do announce anything new it will be smaller stuff, like perhaps some more eShop titles, or C-list Nintendo properties.

That Pikmin 4 which was apparently almost ready to go would be a welcome treat to the stream. Despite my incorrect opinion of "one per console generation" I would almost definitely play another Pikmin. 3 was amazing!

I'd normally say something about making sure your saves are backed up, but the XBO cloud saves by default so they probably already are...

Cheers for the reminder ;)

Back to tonights Nintendo Direct, I'm really hoping to see some info on Pikmin 4 but i'm really concerned that they're going to turn it into an Amiibo centric title like Animal Crossing: Amiibo festival :(
