Re: Destiny
just did a quick google search, I wish I done that before accepting the quest, I have an legendary bounty, working towards getting the "Invective" shotgun.
another shotgun! I can't move in my inventory/vault for tripping over shotguns!
Ah well, this one will live on my bounty back-burner and I'll keep slowly working on it.

Re: Destiny
Replied to your first post but it's on the previous page.
Always accept the Legendary bounties but yeah check which one to take due to the weapon you'll receive and whether you can be bothered with the Crucible aspects which plague some of them. I hear you on shotguns - I'm currently right in the middle of a phase of only receiving shotguns from raids, nightfalls etc. even legendary drops. They're useless outside of PVP!

Re: Destiny
have you read about the buff coming in the next update on shotguns? I seem to remember hearing talk of a 100% damage buff on shotguns in PvE.hazeredmist wrote: I hear you on shotguns - I'm currently right in the middle of a phase of only receiving shotguns from raids, nightfalls etc. even legendary drops. That might make carrying all these bloody shotguns worth it.

Re: Destiny
oh and in response, to your question, I didn't get the ice breaker, it was available on a week when I didn't have enough coins, but no doubt it will turn up again. I'm not so fussed about sniping, but I have to admit, the fact that it regenerates ammo must make it a very handy thing to have in your back pocket once you've burned through all your rocket ammo.

Nice!
Checked the Nightfall this week - it sounds rough. No burns.

I google searched this, and all I could find were load of forum threads of people losing thier shit about "No burns Omnigul", but no actual explanation of what any of that means. I'm completely clueless!hazeredmist wrote:Nice!

Re: Destiny
Right! so more googling! Omnigul is the boss, and it's from the expansion, so I'm guessing people who don't own the DLC can't play.
No burns, means that you can't do any additional elemental damage.
Well, I'm not beefy enough to solo that just yet. I'm still looking to upgrade my boots, but I'm holding out until the boots hold more ammo for auto rifles, and I spent my vanguard points on a new chest plate
I reckon if I can get new boots, I'll hit 29. Maybe I need ot start trying to join in with some people for daily or weekly strikes?

Re: Destiny
Ah sorry - yes the burns thing is whether your weapons which have Solar, Arc or Void characteristics will do additional damage to enemies. Usually with a Nightfall there is at least one burn, the caveat is that it also leaves you open to the same vulnerability. So if you have a Void gun equipped and you are shot by an enemy with Void damage in their weapon, you will take a bigger hit. Look at the colours next to your gun when you check the stats - orange is solar, blue is void, purple is arc. Took me ages to suss it out, even with people telling me. There's so much to the game!RoboticMonk3y wrote:Right! so more googling! Omnigul is the boss, and it's from the expansion, so I'm guessing people who don't own the DLC can't play.

As for solo runs on the Nightfall... Only seriously hardcore people (or gratuitous cheese enthusiasts!) would even attempt that. Death in a Nightfall for your team results in you being booted back to orbit - so naturally a single person soloing a Nightfall means any death kills your game entirely.
For new armour your best bet is raids, Nightfalls or Roc strikes as well as the vanguard / crucible vendors at the tower. Jay will be able to advise you better than I could but with the random nature of drops there isn't really an exact science to it, just doing things that will give you the best chance until you get what you want.

Re: Destiny
Jay saw me onto the right path with armour, I'm getting everything from my vanguard guy, then holding out for a dew specific bits and pieces from xur, and on that note, I need to start stocking up on strange coins. It would be bloody typical if Xur is selling the armamentarium this week, as I've only currently got a few strange coins..
any suggestions on the best way to coin myself up?

Re: Destiny
well, I popped on last night to tuck in a few quick patrols before watching "better call saul" with the wife.
I have my little girl asleep on my lap (she's not very well at the moment), and got an invite from Jay to join a fireteam. I figured I probably had a free 20 minutes to have a quick strike or a few patrols.
oh man, was I in for a ride!
I only caught on after about 20 minutes of having the shit beat out of me that we were doing the weekly heoric.
https://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/PGCR/2 ... 1848047138
Man, I was taking a lot of hits, I was mostly trying to pick off or lure out people for jay to sweep up and trying my best not to die!
I ended up with 9 strange coins at the end, so I have 12, which is pretty handy if Xur is selling anything useful this week.
The highest cost for something is 14, right?

Re: Destiny
Was gonna say the best way is the weekly on level 30, and you get 9 coins for that.
The highest price is 17 for an exotic weapon, eg. Ice Breaker last week, you can top up on strange coins by doin public events and strikes, things like that but it's luck of the draw.

Re: Destiny
ice breaker was last week?
did it pop up again then?
I bought something from xur last weekend and I don't recall seeing the ice breaker, I thought is was on sale a few weeks back now. Maybe I'll kick myself a little harder if I've missed it twice! :S

Re: Destiny
Yeah it came up again, there's a rotation of exotics that are random in how they appear, with some more likely to appear than others. Gjallahorn, the most coveted gun in the game with the possible exception of Ice Breaker (less so now as it's been available lately) is in the rotation, but NEVER appears. Much like it never drops, but guns like No Land Beyond drop regularly. If you ever see No Land Beyond by the way, run a mile, it's awfulRoboticMonk3y wrote:ice breaker was last week?

Got a new exotic last night in Thunderlord, a machine gun from the exotic chest in VOG. Seems quality! There are a few weapons I'd really like. I'm desperate for new content now though, a lot of last night felt like work. The Nightfall was horrendous, first time I've not immediately followed it up with the Weekly, and the bounties were a chore. It could have something to do with the fact I was in a party with some guys who were doing other things, so I ended up not saying much myself. Things picked up later when I joined some other mates for some Roc strikes, that was fun.
The fun social elements and the raids are probably the only thing keeping me playing truth be told! Many things are starting to feel more like a job than a game, and I'm not sure how long that will fly. House of Wolves can't come soon enough.
Re: Destiny
Sorry about that mate, was a bit chaotic on party chat with people playing different games. Nightfall was hard work though, like you couldn't face doing weekly straight after so ended up doing crota raid. Got what I believe is a good titan helm though so hopefully worth it.hazeredmist wrote:Yeah it came up again, there's a rotation of exotics that are random in how they appear, with some more likely to appear than others. Was with my friends who have left our old clan to join this new one, where they are more serious and dedicated, hence the lack of banter in the party. I won't be following them, I don't play enough (apparently someone got booted out too due to playing with other groups and that's something I tend to do anyway as I know a few different groups to play with), so I started my own clan

Re: Destiny
I play with a few different groups as well. I find it interesting how different teams approach raids/strikes etc. as long as a group is welcoming then that'll do me, I've never been booted but that would be enough for me not to go back

Re: Destiny
level 29!
I'm kinda shocked at how long I got stuck in the mid 20's and how fast I've been able to push up, now I know what I'm doing.
I also luckily got a couple of strange coins last night.
I was advised that the ROC strikes give out a ton of goodies, and I wasn't so lucky there, but I'm going to stick with it, and see if I can push myself up to 30!

I've never had much joy with roc strikes tbh. Currently looking to get my Titan to 30, on 28 at present. My warlock is 32 so time to give the chunky dude some attention

Re: Destiny
The main benefit of ROC strikes is obtaining vanguard marks and vanguard rep, which can be used to buy weapons and armour, or materials to upgrade armour. You rarely get purple engrams but upgrading your cryptarch level due to vanguard rep nets you legendary stuff at the postmaster, so it's well worth doing.
