Just added a few of you I could see in the tags thread. Anyone else with a Wii U ID?

Really enjoying this console - managed to get it working in my bedroom now and had a great time with guests earlier on Nintendo Land. Bit of Mario Kart before bed I reckon.

Do Wii games look better on Wii-U, like upscaled or anything?

They look sharper and clearer because they're going through HDMI rather than component/SCART/composite, but beyond that I don't think so.

Countstex and penguingirl74 are set up. But barely touched the console so far. Really need to pick up Pikmin to get some time on there!

It's fully digital as Ratso says so everything is a little crisper but it's like the difference from 720p to 1080p. It's there but after 5 mins playing it's not noticeable especially given the art styles used in many Nintendo games. They always work to the limitations of their systems so well.

Kind of makes a lot of the game's character roster look even more redundant...

I'm not really that bothered though. It's kind of good in fact. It doesn't actually change anything about how the game plays, so it doesn't force you in to buying the things if you don't want.

I'm guessing the games not built with amiibo in mind from the get-go will get smelly features like that but hey, at least they're acknowledging that previous software can be modified to support such things! It's always a surprise to me when Nintendo do something modern. It's quite exciting.

I may change my mind once we see it in action (probably in this evenings Nintendo Direct).

Although as the only Amiibo I was thinking of getting was Zelda...

I'll find it non-offensive in the same way I find Skylanders non-offensive - by being able to completely ignore it. Messing roung with figurines just isn't something I will ever give a shit about. Anything that helps the Wii U gain more attention is fine by me though!

Meh, Majora's can do one. Worst of all of the post SNES games by miles.

(I may have had this argument with people on Twitter before... hehe...)

I was really tempted to pick up a 3DS this Christmas until I heard about the new model. It seems madness that it won't be launching for Christmas, though I understand some of the reasons for it. Does anyone know of a means to import an Australian version?
