There's certainly a lull in the middle where I felt the cinematics were less prominent and story progression went slow but overall I'll stand by my words on it being the cream of the GTA clones! It's also a plus that none of the voice actors sounded as though they phoned it in (as I'd expected), the voice work really helped to immerse me in that world.
Jan - Spec Ops: The Line (PS3)
Might have to play this one a little more, it doesn't feel like it has as much depth as touted on other podcasts. Perhaps I made the wrong choices?

Defeating Mom is one of my biggest achievements in video gaming. An incredible game that pulled me in and spat me out - and still I kept coming back for more! I'm sure I'll be back for even more after I've stepped outside to see the sun and breathe the clean, fresh air.
Oh, and I played Spec Ops too. Admirable and genuinely interesting aims, but it didn't live up to them in execution.
Running total = 12
The running total includes additional and repeat playthroughs (NG+, co-op, etc.), but the list is spared them to keep it shorter.

Best game on iOS for my money. Was unable to complete it last year after upgrading most areas due to iOS 6 wiping all data. Started again today and finished it today (it's that addictive)

Damn you both. I've avoided this... until today. Now I'm hooked, and I'm blaming you both.
Lego Lord of the Rings - If you want to experience the story of LOTR again without having to put up with the 10 hours of viewing, you can get a very whimsical version here in about 5 hours. Well worth the 6 quid!

Spent the past 24 hours trying not to play 10000000, but no matter what the distraction, I kept coming back. Great game, furious but rarely frustrating.

Working my way through my pile of shame. Kind of firefighting though with PS+ flinging games at us left right and center. At my current rate i'll have cleared up my PS pile of shame by the end of 2014!
For any beat 'em up titles, a completion is classed as either a run through arcade mode or story mode if the game has one.

Certainly interesting, not strictly a horror game at all as it's billed, it's an old school create-your-own-adventure deal. Not everyone's cup of tea but even after one completion you can see how much scope there is for different stories and areas for exploration which results in different endings. http://homehorror.com/whathappened/whathappened.php is an interesting range of different peoples feelings and thoughts towards what actually happened (obviously its packed with spoilers).

I played this at the end of last year. My thoughts on it then- "An odd 'Horror' type 8-bit game where you have to work through an unfolding murder mystery, regrettably to a dead end conclusion that ties nothing up. Only an hour or so long and cost about 60p on Steam."
I don't think you're far off, if I could label any criticisms at it (aside from in terms of audio/visual where '8-bit' seems to be a convenience rather than for impact now) is that it doesn't wrap up to a suitable conclusion. Some may see it as empowering the player to make their own ending in their own adventure, I personally feel it came off a little misjudged for my own preferences, but it is interesting seeing other people's thoughts in the 'what happened?' page on the official site.

Does this count as one or five separate games?
When all the episodes are played back to back it makes for a pretty long game, I have a lot to say about this game and It's probably best saved for the Podcast next week but I'm happy to admit along with many others that this would have been my game of 2012!
