Has he shown up via Cutscene or shown up in the game proper?

Just cut scene, but I know I'm done with it.

I've watched some streams on twitch and whatnot of people further in and I just know I'm not going to enjoy it going forward even when the alien is tailing me.

I may as well trade it in while it still has a decent value towards something I know I'll enjoy and want to play. It shouldn't be a chore for me to play a game I spent £50 on.

Breezed through 11, 12, 13 with one death now in the bit you mean in 14.
Spoiler: show
only killed by an invincible Joe (apparently boiler suits are near indestructible in the future), then Alan reappeared eventually nabbing me in the nest. Oh and I was killed by an invisible face hugger. I'm presuming it's a different Alan. Annoyed they took away my guns then luckily gave them back.

Yeah so I only died three times in chapter 14 :D I think that:
Spoiler: show
using molotovs as mines really helped when two alans were coming for you as it let you know they were there plus when they triggered them they ran off

Wow! Good going, I died so much. I think a part of that was the fact that:
Spoiler: show
a) I underestimated the sheer hardiness of boiler suits.
b) Me wanting to explore the nest was a bad idea as it led me to triggering Facehuggers more than eight times and those deaths did not always feel fair.

Woo. Welcome to Alans!

Yeah I agree with point a) and I didn't b) as I did not want to be in there a second longer than I had to.

Chapter 17
Spoiler: show
I literally shouted "oh fucking come on" when the power went off. Alan is kicking my arse again with some absolute genius deaths. First time he's got me from a vent above and I got to a vent opening for him to rip me out

Finished! I need a rest now.
Spoiler: show
I was so sad when I found Ricardo and said out loud "oh no" then Amanda said it too. Ending very ambiguous, hope this means we're getting a sequel.

Sorry, had to hide in a locker from this thread due to my technical difficulties putting me way behind. Luckily the latest driver update meant I could play again!

Finished it last night, and overall I will leave having very much enjoyed it. With an editor I think it had the potential to be even better, but that isn't to take away from the high moments.
Spoiler: show
I really enjoyed the nest and generator sequence. That really felt like the big ending, which then made it weird that it felt like it was about to end another three times after that! Like you mentioned, that moment in 17 when you have to go back to the generator was just ridiculous.

I felt it was a bit of a let down that after everything you go through, the ending felt like a cop out, and maybe a bit rushed. After all that interesting gameplay you are confronted with, 'press down', 'press down', 'press A'. That didn't really cut it for me.

Having had the forced capture by an Alien, and waking up in the cocoon I thought the player was going to make it to safety, to then witness a first person chest burst! Perhaps with Ripley making it to an air lock and firing herself out as it happened. I guess that would mean no sequel though!

I went to a chat today with the creative lead and a couple of the writers behind it which was nice.

The main thing I took away was on one level earlier in the thread I moaned that alan kept finding me in lockers but in explaining the ai stated that the alien remembers what you do so if you always hide in lockers he's more likely to look in them and if you throw flares a lot eventually he'll stop going after them.

The lead guy was asked about a sequel and behind the "there's still dlc to come" I could tell he knows there will be a sequel!

After giving up on this a couple of months back I've actually gone back to the game the past week and started from scratch. Oddly it's actually clicked with me this time around and I've begun to really enjoy it.

I think my issue before was a lack of patience and now I've got to the point where the alien is stalking me I can see why the game gets its hooks into you. I've just finished chapter five and am looking forward to cracking on with it.

Dom, you can officially say I told you so ;-)

It's good when a game finally clicks you've been trying to get in to for ages. The Mass Effect games are probably my favourite series of all time (after GTA) but it took me 3 or 4 goes to get in to the first one.

Mission 10 is sooooo long, that I've had to take a break twice during the level. Got so fed up of playing the same bit over and over again for 90 mins, that I changed the difficulty to novice.
Still enjoying it though!

Mission 10 is very very long but probably my favourite/worst ;) . I wonder what the differences are in difficulty levels?. I'd imagine the ai will just be dumbed down a bit.

Finally finished the game, and got the two DLC missions to complete. A good game overall but way too long. Thought a natural ending would have been about mission 14. The save system is a problem, and needs more checkpoints. Funnily enough, part of level 18 went the other way. Overall had fun, but it's a game I won't be replaying.

I played some more Isolation last night and it's amazing how this has gone from a game I loathed to one of the best things I've played in a long time.

I've just completed the section where
Spoiler: show
it flashes back to a group finding the relic containing the Space Jockey
and it blew me away. I just didn't expect to see that in this game.

I can't wait to crack on now I've got the flame thrower and see how that changes my encounters with the alien.
