To prevent me from opening up a million threads based on the latest hot scoops from the industry, I figured it'd be nice to have a topical thread discussing the latest news.

Today we have...

John Romero confirms he's working on an FPS. His first since Daikatana.

Should be interesting to see what with the FPS genre heading back towards the old school type of shooter.

Mortal Kombat X's Kano reveal. A well presented video with a tease at the end of what his finisher is like.

Night Trap HD Kickstarter is open and ready for your business.

If i'm being honest, I wasn't really up for a HD remake of Night Trap. It was rubbish back then!

HD Night Trap? Amazing; it was one of my favourite games growing up, even though I'll agree that it was rubbish. The oggs remain one of gaming's most endearingly naff villains.

I personally don't care all that much for GW but King's Quest I am overjoyed about.

It's really weird to see Geometry Wars rearing its head again in this announcement. I always associated with the game PGR, and Bizarre Creations. Who's going to develop this new version then? Or maybe these are just going to be re-releases at this early stage.

Apparently it's a new GW by ex-Bizarre staff, though not Stephen Cakebread himself.

...OK and he also did the VO work in the Walking Dead: Survival Instinct game that came out, right? I know the game itself was not exactly critically acclaimed but does anyone know what his performance was like?

I am happy for another Silent Hill, I love the series but could this be too many cooks in the kitchen? Kojima is renowned for taking the lead roles of Director, Producer, Writer and Designer. Guillermo del Toro is known to often take the lead roles of Director, Producer or Writer. Kojima is often accused of being a game developer who wants to be developing movies. It seems this could either be the best thing ever or a complete train wreck. I hope something good comes from this and that it doesn't just transition to another troubled development project.

Yup, his likeness is actually in the video. Wonder if he plays himself?

My gut is erring towards the latter, and it's going to be glorious.

I honestly thought Microsoft had changed their direction but they still seem willing to piss people off. These timed exclusives are horrible and both parties need to listen. I just don't get it

Sadly it's going to be part and parcel of every game ever. I'd rather they say nothing then announce these add ons further on down the line.

Microsoft obviously think people are stupid enough to buy a xbox one rather than wait for the PS4.
