The videogame music thread
Re: The videogame music thread - share your favourite tunes
Bit of nostalgia for anyone who's familiar.
Really need to get back in to this game.

Were those Russians sort of giggling? Were they thinking it was a funny thing to do? If you were to do that, surely you'd be a bit more sincere.
I know what you both mean. I just wish those journalists had done it in a better way, not in such a surprise-attack way solely towards Kojima-san, but I do understand it must be upsetting for people in Russia to know a beloved composer's tune from their country was copied. It is also true indeed that MGS must have inspired lots of people to learn more about Russia.Todinho wrote: did not expect this and by the looks of it neither did Kojima it's a shame that the song wasnt used in later games because of this, but to be honest if I was russian I would be upset that someone was using a song of a famous composer without giving him any credit, the funny thing is that it was the MGS series that made wanna read and study about Russian history and culture,I guess it all comes full circle.
Anyway I just hope the case has been amicably resolved by now for anyone concerned, and wish Kojima-san and his team all the best for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, of which the OST sounds pretty rocking.

Saw that a while back. I really feel for Kojima here, it looks like he took a sucker punch (purely coincidental that I wanted to post a Punch-Out piece). The fact he barely raises his head again for the duration of the video speaks volumes.
Re: The videogame music thread - share your favourite tunes
Kojima is a very unusual man. I think there's a lot more to him than we know. Even the people who think they've got him all worked out don't really know it all.

So it turns out Metal Gear Rising has a fucking awesome soundtrack.

Just a couple of short ones today, still amazes me how many good game tunes exist (even if I'm only prone to posting the ones with cheesy sections that only a madman like me could love ).

It's all good.
Well, it isn't: some of it's terrible, but figuratively speaking...

Remixing Video Game soundtracks with the Space Jam theme has become an insane little meme that has spread across youtube. More insane is how much of it is Persona related...like more than any other game...Should I be making a Space Jam remix then?
Re: The videogame music thread - share your favourite tunes
This music just make me want to run around and enjoy the sunshine and other things of the sort
And I think we all should be making space jam remixes, the world would be a better place

Blizzard once again demonstrate consistancy through games with timeless music!
(This one's actually just the second part of a track from the original starcraft despite the misleading image)

I absolutely adore Blizzard soundtracks and they're the reason I have so much nostalgia for WoW. Roaming round the barrens listening to the music pre-cata is one of gamings best for me.
You can see why I had to out at least four tracks in this weeks podcast. They're just so good!

Crysis 3's soundtrack has not been anywhere near as good as 2's. But the build up to 1:24 in this then it kicks in is fantastic:

Doubtful we'll ever get a Cane and Rinse on the series now it's almost lifeless but the soundtracks live on (it's hard cutting it down to so few).

It's a series I'd be interested in covering but there were just so many entries. It would make for an interesting show though, bringing it up to date to the (disappointing) HD version via the folly of the peripheral.mikeleddy83 wrote:Doubtful we'll ever get a Cane and Rinse on the series now it's almost lifeless but the soundtracks live on (it's hard cutting it down to so few).

For anyone into C64 music that dabbles in Raspberry Pi, there's a nice guide to turning it into C64 jukebox here:

I really don't care that I don't understand what is "apparently" being sung in English. The music for the Persona games is so god damn good.
Persona 4 Arena is no exception.
