Re: Forum Changelog and Forum Suggestions
It's happened once before a few months ago. Edited all of his posts and came back a few weeks later. Nobody else seemed to notice at the time so I didn't say anything to avoid kicking any potential hornet's nest.
I always liked reading his posts and find it unfortunate that he would go through the trouble of removing them all one by one. But like Stan said, he seems to have the type of personality that drives him towards these spring cleaning type of events. It's always difficult to know what exactly goes on inside anybody else's mind, but personally, I don't think there's any malice involved and that he's probably hurting in some way.
My two cents: Slamming the door shut in absentia may not be the most charitable response in this case.

Wild. He's been super active on the What Have You Been Watching thread. Always enjoyed his reviews of all those Criterion films. Seems like such a waste to get rid of all those thoughts.
As an incredibly self-destructive person myself, I hope everything's all right!.

Out of politeness and so nobody spends time wondering, I just want to say that I'm having a break myself for a while. Just too busy and want to make a few changes.
Catch you round.

Re: Forum Changelog and Forum Suggestions
Not good without knowing any context.
I can relate to the need to eliminate some or all of your internet footprint from time to time for whatever reason. I've done it with Facebook and Twitter myself before - sometimes you may look back on your posts and simply not want them publicly visible for all eternity. I imagine he's used some kind of pruning app or script to do this.
Whatever the reason, I hope ThirdMan is OK. Health comes first, if it's helped him in some way, it's a good thing.
@Stan, enjoy your break too mate.

Mate, you know this .
Just trying to build a profile of Clips in my head.
I had, Mancunian, 34, works as management in some sort of production/sales establishment.
Only drinks Oranjeboom. Used to have a Rochdale season ticket.
Obsessed with PC’s and Stewart Lee. Hates leaves and the outside.

Re: Forum Changelog and Forum Suggestions
ThirdMan from the forum here. I just want to apologise for scrubbing my entire post history. I checked back last night and I can see it caused a bit of a stir.
I've been struggling quite badly with anxiety, depression and drug addiction this year and things came to a head at the weekend with a massive paranoid episode. I tend to speak quite personally on forums and social media and I felt so exposed and vulnerable. I literally spent hours scrubbing as much of my online footprint as possible, just lost in a chemical haze. But the feeling wouldn't subside and I eventually had to seek help because I was completely boiling over.
Anyway, I just thought I better explain myself. Please delete my account as I won't be returning. I'll continue to support the show but I'm finished with the forum.
Finally, I was touched to see the guys wishing me well and hoping I was okay. That means a lot. If you think it's appropriate, you could re-post this message in the thread as both an explanation and a goodbye.
Every success for the future.
TM.

Since I joined I've really enjoyed reading all of ThirdMan's posts on film and it encouraged me to crack on with films I've been putting off for years. Sending love his way, it sounds like he's doing the right thing for him and I wish him all the best.

Best of luck to you, TM. Your posts were always a joy to read. I'm sad to see you leave for good but I understand your decision.
I sincerely hope you find the help and the stability you need in the future, wherever you are.

I’m gutted. He was a great member of the forum and i liked his posts in particular his perspective on some eclectic films.
I’m really sad that he’s gone and I wish him well. I get lots of joy from this forum and all its unique members. We better all start watching some films otherwise the what you’ve been watching thread will fade away!

Only just noticed the update to the ThirdMan thing. If he's anything like me, he may well still lurk from time to time to see if anyone responded to his farewell message, and if he does read this, hope you're OK mate. Its been a pleasure talking to you, and I do understand parts of what you're going through. Believe me. If you ever want to talk feel free - alex79uk@googlemail.com
