Steam Events

Just thought I would start a thread so we could make some plans to capitalise on the Steam group we have up and running.

With lots of us having a wide range of games thanks to Steam sales, and access to some free to play content, it feels like we should be able to get some good gaming nights organised.

Maybe a regular evening? Or perhaps getting some events organised through the group (which everyone should get notified about without needing to be already on friends lists etc).

Would people be interested in this? Are there plans to try and increase gaming nights? Might be a good thing to grow this year?

Obviously depends on the game, but yeah I'd be interested in this.

If someone such as yourself, Magic Joe, was willing to sort of 'hold the keys' to the Steam group, I'm sure that would be agreeable to all parties.

I play most of my stuff on PC, so I would certainly be willing to give it a try. I think TF2 is definitely a good idea, as there is also the co-op mode too. It would be good to get a few of us playing together a bit on PC.

If you want to sort out a regular time and date Joe we will publicise the event's via our Twitter/Facebook pages.

This may be hard to believe but I don't actually own a copy of team Fortress 2

You do, you might not just have it downloaded (it's free!!!)

Yeah, I will work out some timings and get things going.

I finally got a new mouse; no idea how long it'll last for (bought it for $8 at the supermarket), but it's working fantastically so far. Even the crappiest (well, cheapest) Logitech mouse is still great, and it doesn't intermittently stop, so it's automatically better than what I was working with before.

Anyway, I highly doubt I'll ever end up awake early enough to join you guys on your night games, unless either they go on very late and/or I just stay up through the night, but if anyone ever does feel like playing a game or two of anything, I'm down. I'm keen to get back into the swing of things after having not played any mouse-specific games for so long. Particularly first-person shooters; I really want to get back into Counter-Strike and TF2.

TF2 is free now? I had no idea! Getting!

Does anyone ever play DoD:S any more? I loved that when it came out.

Team Fortress 2 has been free since late 2011 when "Meet the Medic" was released in the Über Update.

I'd be up for some TF:2. Never played it before. See also: Left 4 Dead 2.

I already ended up teaching myself, but I'm sure I could do with learning proper strategy.

Could be interesting, had a few goes vs AI, but taking a while to sink in with me being an old dog. Will never excel, but would like to get to a level where it is enjoyable.

I think being able to learn with friendly people would make it a much less daunting prospect, I would start a thread up Darth. We can set up a night if it looks like a goer.
