Just finished up with Severance and Pachinko.

Both really good for very different reasons. Apple TV seems to be on a bit of a roll lately.

They also have excellent title sequences and music - It shouldn't make that big of a difference but it does!

22. Top Gun Maverick
Quite simply one of the best action films I’ve ever seen. I saw it in 4DX IMAX but I’m confident I would still rate it as highly without. A must watch for any action film fan and I say that as someone who wasn’t that into the first film. 5/5

23. Ozark Season 4
Overall a fantastic show and probably my favourite Netflix produced show. A shame about the ending which didn’t quite hit for me. 5/5

24. Jurassic World Dominion
Much better than the previous film. I found it to be a lot of fun to watch. It has a bit of a stupid plot and went on too long but I found a lot to like. 3/5

25. Dune
Wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did as I’m not really into sci fi or Villeneuve’s previous films but this was great. Wonderful cinematography as expected from him but I also loved the characters and story. Encouraged me to get the book. 4/5

26. Uncharted
The bar is low but this is my favourite video game film. We all know the casting is off but I think Holland and Wahlberg did a good job even if I didn’t like the films version of Sully. Average plot but thought it had a couple of great set pieces. 3/5

Watched Nope twice in theaters. I liked it the first time and loved it the second. It's really creative, entertaining, and full of fantastic performances all around as well as some of the best horror sequences I've seen in while. Definitely worth checking out unless you're claustrophobic.

Can't wait to see Nope, unfortunately we in the UK have to wait until August 14th to see it, before then though I'm looking forward to Bullet Train after I read the wonderful book.

Whilst waiting for new Better Call Saul episodes to drop I have been working through some films. First off I watched Batman Begins which was the only Batman in the Nolan trilogy I hadn't seen. Really enjoyed it as an origin story and would be my second favourite in the trilogy after TDK.

I also decided to watch the Bourne trilogy again, have seen them before but not for what must be over a decade and after watching Identity and Supremacy, they still hold up really well. The action sequences, whether it be a fight or chase are superbly choreographed and get get really creative like with the Biro pen fight scene in Identity. I remember Ultimatum being my favourite so looking forward to watching that again but for me this is one of the best trilogies in cinema as they're all 4 or 5 star films for me. (I won't mention the Bourne Legacy and Jason Bourne which came out many years afterwards :P)

Yeah I only watched the original Bourne trilogy fairly recently and enjoyed them quite a lot. I found them a lot more entertaining than, say, the Daniel Craig Bond films (of which I've only seen a couple, admittedly).

Yeah, unfortunately, the five Craig Bond films equal about 3 good movies.
Casino
Skyfall
And then a mix of the other 3 to equal one good film.

Batman Begins is probably my fave of the Nolan Bat-films. Love that it keeps the serious tone while also including ninjas. I wish they had ended with the 2nd one. Would have just been an unbelievable one-two-punch instead of a trilogy that ends...fine.

I’d say NTTD was my second favourite Craig Bond film after Casino.

Watched Bourne Supremacy last night, was great but think I preferred Identity. Looking forward to Ultimatum.

So that's Better Call Saul done. What a satisfying finale it was too. Gutted that it's over. If Vince Gilligan ever did reveal that he was going to do something new in that universe I would be confident that he would handle it well. Whatever he does next though I will be there for it as he has wrote my 2 favourite TV shows.

Nope
Really enjoyed the latest from Jordan Peele. Had some really striking imagery and great moments. Not the scariest horror but that was fine with me as I don't like anything too scary, certain themes might be more scary for others though. My only criticsm was that it lacked the same humour that has been in Peele's previous films. Overall I would still say Get Out is still his best but I find it difficult to split Nope and Us. I would probably go with Nope over Us though, only because I felt I could understand the plot and underlying themes and meanings of Nope compared to Us which had a finale which good, kind of left me a bit confused. Nope though I would give 4/5.

I started a fourth watch through of Lost. Already up to episode ten, having been watching it whilst I work all day. Nothing so far has changed my mind that it is the greatest television show of all time, and I would die on that hill. It's just the best.

Sorry to be that guy, but I have to move in with my small army and lay siege to thine hill. I have a massive bee in my bonnet about that show.

Lost, what an apt word for a show where the writing and plot points lived up to the title of the show. Loved season 1 and then slowly watched it become a murky mess and then descend into an all consuming maelstrom of a convoluted tripe stew.

But, I am going to accept that my opinion is based mostly on the crutch that it was not the show I expected or wanted it to become... I was hoping for Lord of the Flies and got The Twilight Zone. It's a me thing, I get it. I think had it been actually crap to begin with, I would not even give it a second thought.

You feel for Lost how I feel about The Sopranos, one of those hills you will not only die on but perhaps you hope that your descendents will also defend because you died on it and has become hallowed ground :P

I initially got to the start of Season 4 and gave up. In 2012 my then new girlfriend was adamant I would love it if I watched it all the way. So, I started again and watched the whole thing with her (season 6 was through some gritted teeth at times thought I have to say).

Like I said, I can accept it is a matter of opinion and it's totally a ME problem.

Anyone watching Rings of Power? As a casual LoTR fan I was hesitant to watch it but I’m glad I did as I’ve quite enjoyed what I’ve watched so far. The production values are incredible too.

Started watching it with the kids last night as they really enjoyed the Hobbit and LOTR films but not sure it's as suitable for them plus they were getting bored so turned it off for another day.

Whilst looking through Prime though I did notice Everything Everywhere All At Once had come to the service, so will definitely be watching that soon.

Will be interested to hear what you think as I really didn’t like it. Probably my least favourite film I’ve seen this year but I’d still recommend people watch it in case you one of the many who really love it.

See How They Run
Just a really good whodunnit film. Not quite Knives Out levels but still good fun and family friendly, some good laughs in there too. 3.5/5

Just watched Barbarian and really enjoyed it. It's a well done grody horror movie with a well realized theme.
Spoiler: show
It's basically going for exactly what Men was on a thematic level, but far more successfully IMO.

Pleasantly surprised by House of the Dragon, which I am absolutely loving so far.

It seems that HBO learned a lot of lessons from the debacle that was the latter half of Game of Thrones and have gone back to the memorable characters, interpersonal relationships, politicking and palace intrigue that made seasons 1-4 so great.

In many ways it feels like a more mature show than Game of Thrones, with a more complex and nuanced take on gender dynamics (presumably thanks to many episodes being written and directed by women).

Also got to shout out to the incredible casting. I've always loved Paddy Considine and it's great to see him get a big headline role in such a prominent show, while Matt Smith and Rhys Ifans (playing brilliantly against type in sombre and serious mode) are also superb, as are the all of the younger, relatively unknown cast, especially the two young women playing Alicent and Rhaenyra.

Top notch stuff.

Now finish the books please, GRRM

Completely agree, I've been so impressed with how they're expanding the material in a really clever way.
