I was starting to wonder why I didn’t feature anywhere! Then I realised that’s because my list didn’t rank my list at all!

I might have to do it for fear of expulsion if I don’t!

My biggest surprise with this whole entertaining excersise is that Final Fantasy VI ranked so comparatively low. I personally don't care that much for it, but I was always under the impression that "common consensus" put it as the best in the series.

My understanding of the common consensus was always: VII > VI > X > VIII > IX > XII > V or something along those lines.

Of the Rankers, only duskvstweak had it on his list, at #18.

At the end of the day, it's a pretty small sample size for Ranked, at least, though the FF rankings are borne out in the larger poll.

The only conclusion I can draw is that the C&R Final Fantasy community consists of some real loose cannons. Pun not intended, sadly.

Today's chart is an interesting one - it consists of games that received very few votes, but those votes were extremely high up in the rankings they appeared in (an average of top 7), meaning those voters felt very passionate about them.

So if you see something here that you haven't tried and you think might be in your wheelhouse, maybe check it out.

Did you exclude all the games that received only one vote, though? I'm sure I saw a number of those pretty high up.

You will never get any two people to agree on a ranking of the final fantasy games. Ever.

Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that. Games that got one single vote were excluded on purpose - they basically fall into the category of, 'That's just your opinion, man.'

440 games got one vote.

Some of the highest ranked one votes were Out of the Park Baseball, Championship Manager Season 01/02, Skyward Sword, and Olli and Lissa: The Ghost of Shilmoore Castle. So I think we can discount that way of looking at things.*

*Apologies to anyone whose favourite game is mentioned there, me included

For the purposes of transparency, I should say that I came up with this category when I was messing around and noticed Dead Space got a high score on this metric. So if I sound a bit odd up there when I tell people to go and play RE: Remake or Saturn Bomberman, what I actually mean is

Go play Dead Space

That list is phenomenal!

You've seen a lot of the data now though, will you be able to do it impartially, or will you give more points to FF9 or MGS to try and bump it up?

It's not a bad top ten -they all left their indelible mark on gaming, that's for sure.

No, I mean with only 20 (21 now) people contributing, one new ranking will have a significant effect on the whole thing, meaning big leaps for certain games. I mean our overall sample is small, not yours.

What about ranking them by tier? So if you had eight games in God Tier, they would all receive the same weighting (the average of the eight, basically), 10 games in Tier 2 get the average score for that tier and so on...

EDIT: Needless to say, don't do it on my account. I think I'm done with this for a while now.

Shoot! I didn't rank my list in order! FFVI would be in my top 3-5 games of all time. I've broken the system!
