Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Ninja Saviors. I took a break from it after repeatedly getting stomped by the martial arts master boss. I can beat him if I get lucky, but until I can confidently take him on, I can't clear it on one credit, which means no unlocks... also, I've got this on a Switch Lite, and since I bought it for g...

cool - thanx for checking it out.
that track is 'Daisuke' by El Huervo, one of those music/art/design do-it-alls who just make you green with envy.

Re: Shameless Self Promotion
I recently finished a short mix of tunes unified by a 'rainy day' theme. some electronic, a lil' beat-centric Jazz, indie rock... even some game music is represented. I tried to cast a wide net stylistically. give it a listen when you're in a mellow mood (or would like to get into one). https://soun...

‘Silver Ice Sheet’ is the stage 4 theme from Capcom’s shoot-em-up ’19XX: The War Against Destiny.’ It's one of those tracks that managed to cut through the din of the noisy arcade and make a real impression on me on the few occasions I was able to play this game in the wild. I love the laid-back, al...

Re: 417: Marvel's Spider-Man
There’s a scene midway into Captain America: Civil War where Peter Parker tells Tony Stark that he wears special goggles while swinging around because there is “too much information” that he needs to tune out in order to focus effectively. That’s exactly how I felt while playing Spider-Man . The fan...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
just started playing Blazing Chrome on Switch. it's difficult :| I actually don't think the diagonal aiming is all that tight, and the variable jump height depending on your button press is weird and taking time to adjust to. I still keep coming back for more, tho! they've really nailed the Contra v...

I was most excited to revisit Strikers '99 with these releases, but I find Dragon Blaze (which I had no real prior experience with) to be easier to approach on the Switch Lite. Gonna tackle that one first. And speaking of Dragon Blaze, some of its stages and enemy designs are very reminiscent of Mus...

That was the only boss I couldn’t master a strategy for - on all the others, you can beat them without taking much damage with a bit of luck on your side, but this one seems to be all about luck . I was afraid you'd say that  the throwing > attacking tip is good, though. I'll keep at it!

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Got to the end of The Ninja Saviors on Switch I haven't found a way to consistently beat the Stage 5 boss (martial arts master with the long white hair) with Kunoichi, so I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get it down in time attack before going back to the main game. he's just so...

Re: Battle Garegga
I got this when it was last released physically, but have only fired it up once or twice so far. I mentally prepared myself for a struggle based on all I'd heard about its complex systems and mandatory suicides and whatnot. Seemed intimiating. Gotta say, though, I was surprised at how accessible and...

I recently beat River City Girls and really enjoyed it. The presentation is fantastic, with the world and characters really bursting with life and personality. (One touch I really appreciated is the iPad/tablet screen that doubles as the game's menu. Kyoko, the bubbly girl, has cutesy animal sticker...

'Stasis Awakening' - Disasterpeace - Hyper Light Drifter This track plays as you approach the lair of the boss of the western region. When I first encountered this area, I was overwhelmed by the amount of enemies that sprouted up. The deep bass rumbles, low synth tones and slow pace all do a great j...

I've been playing Mega Man X, the SNES game, on my Switch. I understand your frustrations, though I was happy to find it was still quite fun for me on a recent playthrough. Nearly everything you mentioned, however, I find applicable to Shovel Knight, which is deeply indebted to the Mega Man series ...

Re: Your most played game this year
for me, it's Dead Cells . I remember posting on this very forum shortly after it released, asking for advice on whether or not I should take a chance as a non-rougelike player. 'glad I decided to dive in. I've still yet to beat the 1-cell difficulty, but the satisfaction of gradually discovering the...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Definitely going to keep going until I can at least beat it in Beginner Difficulty. you can do it! Journey Mode destroyed me too, but I eventually came out on top. on the other hand, I’ve still yet to get an A ranking in the clear-40-lines-as-fast-as-possible challenge. I thought I’d done it once I...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Dead Cells has become much less fun ever since I switched to Hard mode. I've activated one (ONE!) Boss Cell, and now grazing some spikes or catching a hit from the most basic foot solider will decimate 95% of my life bar. also, damage dealt isn't always consistent; sometimes it seems normal, other t...

I too spent some time on the shmups forums in the past before reaching the same conclusions everyone here has already mentioned. it's a surprisingly joyless place for a site dedicated to video games. most of the posters there are real-life Comic Book Guys from The Simpsons—embodying the ugliest nerd...
