Re: All things Metal Gear (Solid)

Just ordered my copy from simplygames, so hopefully it'll arrive in time for some Bank Holiday playing. I've been curiously unexcited for this until the reviews started coming out; now I'm hyped for what will be my first MGS playthrough since Guns of the Patriots

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront

I'll be on PS4 too. I expect it to dominate my life far too much in October, the trailers have been getting me excited almost as much as the film has.

Re: PlayStation Plus (and the PS Store in general)

I'm a bit behind, but Rocket League is absolutely brilliant. I haven't had this much fun since the football game in Rayman Legends

Haha, what a great trailer / intro. It reminded me a bit of the titles for Looney Toon Adventures

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

Saw Inside Out today. Amazing film, might well be my favourite Pixar movie of all. I saw it at a preview last weekend and similarly enjoyed it, though I wouldn't call it my favourite Pixar (it's probably one of Toy Story 3, Up! or Ratatouille). I can see it having a life beyond the film too, with s...

Sadly the beta is going into extended maintenance while they sort out their issues. Fingers crossed that it's up and running for the weekend

No-one should ever start watching Firefly. When it finishes it'll be like a hole in your heart that never truly goes away...

Re: Book Recommendations

Just read The Martian in a day. Very good, at times it can be a little heavy on the science aspect of things, but it is part of the character and story so needs to be there. I Agreed, as I've just read this myself. The main character is well written, and there's an authenticity (whether accurate or...

Re: Destiny

Hi everyone, I've been away from the site for a bit due to time commitments. However, I now have a PS4 and I'm looking to dive into a few hours on Destiny to see how it's changed in the last few months. I'm at Level 26, so at the least it would be cool to get up to the level cap (whatever it's sitti...

Re: Her Story

I've kind of played through this twice. The first time was a fairly quick 20 minutes on my iPhone. Then I restarted on my iPad to do it properly, but was surprised how I ended up having a completely different experience. The main twist came through the 2nd time (I think the first time I was too obse...

Re: The Street Fighter thread

Woot, I got an EU beta test code for SFV. I won't say that I've been any good at fighting games since Tekken 2 on the PS1, but I'd be willing to try a few rounds on the PS4 if anyone feels like embarrassing me

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight (spoilers Included)

I caned through this in the past few days, and maybe it's the shiny new graphics but I enjoyed this more than I did City. Asylum remains the benchmark, however. The story was an odd one. On the one hand it felt far more focused than City's, which seemed a bit overloaded with villains. Yet this one f...

Re: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt

I hadn't played either of the previous Witcher games, but the reviews (and my previous love of Skyrim) persuaded me to finally make the generation jump over the weekend. I've been playing this on PS4, and apart from the ridiculously small text (something I remember being a problem for Oblivion back ...

Re: Splatoon

Some thoughts on the demo: Sniper rifle seemed pretty useless in this mode, or at least needed a lot more practice. Motion controls: turned those off STRAIGHT away. The lack of private matches was irritating. I played a lot of games where the others just weren't on board tactically. There were also ...

You bet, if I get half the enjoyment out of it that I have with Mario Kart 8 this past 5 months then it'll be a winner.

Re: The Kojima speculation thread

After years of playing Kojima games, I'm fairly certain that Konami just got fed up of the girly pictures that Hideo kept leaving everywhere. Playboys in the corridors. Pin-ups in the lockers. The final straw was probably seeing his concept art for what the updated nurses would be for Silent Hills.

This trailer has sold me on the next generation. I'll admit that I'm riding on a wave of Star Wars love right now after 'that' trailer, but this looks huge fun. Just make sure I can play as an Ewok, EA!

You can control Manny with either the analogue stick or the D-pad. In fact, I used the d-pad as I find that easier when playing 'tank control' type games.

Re: PlayStation Plus (and the PS Store in general)

Only remembered this morning that it's PS Plus update time, and I'm really pleased with the offerings. I love adventure games to Sherlock has had my interest for a while, Olli Olli 2 will satisfy my arcade itch (control system and all) and Abe's Odyssey is a classic
