Papers Please- This game is amazing and despite its file size it actually makes you sink some time in it my first playthrough took 6 hours to complete and hell thats more than some AAA out there,I could try and explain why you should play it this game about checking passaports but instead go watch the zero punctuation Yatzhee did on the game its prety much sums up what I thought and the reasons you should give this a go,I'll just point out that this game is one of the best I played all year along with stuff like Last of us and Antichamber so try it out and remember Glory to Arstozka!

Much like Borderlands, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and Silent Hill - this is another game on my list for a while that I wasn't sure I would ever get around to completing but I did. I'm glad I did, the game isn't perfect but to see a game touching on the same Greek mythology that fascinated me when I was younger is pretty cool and some of the puzzles got me thinking too.

Felt like a greatest hits of Gears game which is no bad thing, people can fly deserve huge credit for it. This game has me wondering why 360 exclusives have gone and dried up as a string of games at this level would keep me firing up the system day after day. I'll be watching out for a gears reboot next E3 for sure.

Well, with a new console out in a matter of months, I can sorta see why its been quiet on the 360 front :-)

Also almost any 360 game worth playing has a cheaper, better version on the PC these days.

I hate it when I don't spell out exactly what I'm thinking but if games can be thrown out to external devs at the end of a systems life I can't see why not. Sony have a history of keeping the older audience happy, I just hoped ms would buck the trend they started with their last system of killing it overnight.

Next to none of the exclusives are there though, the extra content version of the first gears of war is about the only breakthrough.

Edit. Finished Killer is Dead, nice to see a return to the grasshopper of old. It's not exactly Killer7 but it's a step in the right direction. Way too short so I can only recommend it as a rental.

Saints Row 4

Crazy, bananas and all over daft I had a lot of fun with Saints 4. Mobility and exploration feel great, traversing the world is a huge heap of fun and while I am not entirely convinced by all the activities on offer they never ask you to repeat too much too often so it manages to avoid getting stale. some of the individual mission design is really very good in a nodding and winking kind of way (not necessarily in a high quality kinda way), and part of me hopes they concentrate more on a linear adventure where they can leverage this a little more. Fun times, and a nice silly distraction before the more serious GTA comes along.

Luigis Mansion 2

Just wonderful in nearly every way. It may not be the most challenging of games but the atmosphere, controls and act of playing the game just feels incredibly satisfying. I was incredibly impressed with the atmosphere the team managed to create and the desire to poke around each mansion was too good to resist, made all the better when you found a secret area or discovered a jewel. Added to that the mechanic of ghost catching is tremendously enjoyable, especially later as your juggling between wearing them down and avoiding obstacles. And like all good Nintendo titles they give you lots of reasons to want to come back and explore further to mop up collectibles and unlock new areas. Really fantastic and a firm highlight of this year.

Halo 4

Again really liked it. I can see why some find it a little too close to what has gone before but it is so well done, so very polished and still has that core combat enjoyment and tension in battle that it manages to push past the concerns into a legitimately fantastic entry in the series.

Been trying out some of the games from The Basement Collection before tonight's podcast recording. Not entirely sure what I did, or what it meant, but this is the only one I've finished thus far. Definitely broaching territory I haven't seen in a game before, but (like I said) no idea whatsoever.

Running total = 60
The running total includes all playthroughs (NG+, alternative difficulties, alternative endings, co-op, etc.), but the list is spared them to keep it shorter.

Total Games Completed: 56
Total Game Completions: 74
An update of over a month.

Over this time I have earned Platinum Trophies on:
  • Spec Ops: The Line
  • Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
  • Sound Shapes
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Pretty extensive playing. Really enjoyed revisiting Spec Ops: The Line for my 3rd and 4th Completions (Full 1000/1000 on Xbox 360), Batman: Arkham Asylum (Also Full 1000/1000 on Xbox 360) and finally finishing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory after all these years. I actually completed it three times, once after the podcast, it's that good. Probably the most surprising however was Jak & Daxter, a game I got when it was released on Playstation 2 and know I completed, but remembered very little of. Ended up getting the Platinum, which involved a frightening number of collectibles (around 2,250 in total I believe) but remained fun to play, even after 12 years. I always maintained it was the closest Sony ever came to matching Mario 64 and still maintain that. It was also interesting to see S. Yoshida, K. Hirai, J. Tretton, A. House and M. Cerny listed in the credits - the very public team behind the Playstation 4 (and these are in the original release credits too, having checked YouTube.)

I too have finished Brothers A Tale of Two Sons. I didn't love it, nor did it do anything poorly, it just failed to reach the dizzy heights of Journey for me (I was expecting a fairly similar experience)

Such are the problems with direct comparisons I suppose. It's a very different animal to Journey, and I myself wouldn't like to measure one up against the other.
