I'm forcing 999 on a couple of the crew in order to make sure this show (or shows) happens. Well, forcing is a strong word; after all, Leon and Josh hardly needed convincing, such is theirNokkonWud wrote:Not only are they on the list, but they were also discussed, 999 more so, quite thoroughly in a team meeting two nights ago!InsrtCoins wrote:I'm not sure if they've been mentioned here before, but I've been very interested in the Zero Escape games (999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Virtue's Last Reward).

I would also be interested to hear a retrospective look at Kameo: Elements of Power.
As we're entering a new console generation, I've looked back at the launch titles of the previous, and one of the conclusions that I've come to is that even though Kameo tends to be a rather forgotten title (fairly or unfairly) and even at the time was overlooked in favor of more mainstream-friendly titles, I think that it was important. It gave a face to the Xbox 360 in a way that I don't think any of their other launch titles did. It felt like something I had never seen before. Lush, beautiful fantasy worlds and its much-lauded enemy count in its massive fantasy battles. It was a new name and a very impressive tech demonstration. Other than maybe Knack, this coming generation doesn't really have a Kameo. The Assassin's Creed IVs and inFamous 3s don't really stir that wonder and curiosity in me the same way that Kameo did -- this coming generation feels more like an extension of the last.
I have my own personal feelings towards the title. Listening to the amazing soundtrack now puts me back in the same headspace that I was in back then. What I'm not sure of is whether or not I'm being as objective as I should be. I may be looking at it through rose-tinted glasses.

I suspect the early 360 adopters on the team must have played this one, albeit 8 years ago now!
I'll add it to the list.

Kameo is a far better game than it tends to be remembered as.
Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
I'd go with that. Was also arguably the best looking of all the launch titles, Rare worked wonders with it.Flabyo wrote:Kameo is a far better game than it tends to be remembered as.

You can see a very special thing (to me) in Kameo. It was dubbed the Golden Gar-gate and was my suggested design idea which got approved! This was when the game was quite a bit different and on the original Xbox.
It's the huge golden gate which the pummelweed has to slide under in order to progress during the intro level. Originally it was a wall which exploded and felt out of place and I moaned like QA guys do and it got changed!

It may well already be on the list but having just played To the Moon, it would make for excellent discussion
edit: Ahh I see it's already been suggested. Great!

Yeah, Josh put it on the list a while back, and it's one we've had several requests for. Fear not, it will happen at some point.Dante Fireseed wrote:It may well already be on the list but having just played To the Moon, it would make for excellent discussion

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
You definitely should do an episode on Kerbal Space Program!
It is a sandbox game that I liked to describe as "it's like minecraft, but for space". Build single- or multi-stage rockets, see what works (and what doesn't) try to get higher, get out of the atmosphere, get into orbit and so on. Once you get out of the atmosphere of planet Kerbin and manage a stable orbit you can start exploring the planets and moons in the solar system, build and land rovers on the moon (or Mun as the closest one is called) or even build and launch space station parts to dock and assemble a space station in orbit.
In a sudden Keanu Reeves moment you will realize:

Added to the list. We'll see how many of the crew are tempted (I know I am).papapishu wrote:You definitely should do an episode on Kerbal Space Program!
I've heard lots about the game, but oddly still have no real concept of how the game might look/feel/play.

Mafia and Mafia 2.
So much better than LA Noire - although not really similar, enough to draw comparisons at least.

Mafia II is on the list and a few of us have played it through. But yeah, closer to GTA than LA Noire in intent and experience I'd say.
Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
You definately need to play it one way or another! It's hard to give it a fair description in words, just like Dark Souls it has to be experienced first hand (speaking of Dark Souls, your guest appearance in Twin Humanities is what brought me to your podcast and forumiwatttfodiwwfa wrote:Added to the list. Next best thing would be to watch someone else play it and I think Nerd³ has a great showcase of one of the older versions, there's been a few big updates since but the core mechanics are the same: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFX5kZMulu0
I'm by far no expert but I've spent a good amount of hours in that game learning orbital mechanics and such so I'd be more than happy to help guide your first shaky steps towards space.

I had great fun on Twin Humanities. Talking Dark Souls is something I could do seemingly endlessly and still never grow tired of it (obviously).papapishu wrote:You definately need to play it one way or another! Welcome to the forum and podcast, it's good to have you onboard. I'll make sure to let you know how I get on with KSP once I clear the runway of other games.
