personally I found the campaign nothing more than average but to be honest this game release was always about the multiplayer. Unlike the multiplayer it doesn't bring anything new to the table for this genre of games. .... Or maybe I'm just missing the point lol

Don't bother with the campaign. Just jump into multiplayer.

Or, hey, for more impressions on it, listen to the Cane and Rinse episode!

So far so good, even though I'm rubbish! ;) Can't fly the planes too. I'm shit hot at capturing bases though, managed to finish 4th out of 11 when my team won with a 0/19 K/D ratio :).

I posted some tips earlier on in this thread mate. They may help you avoid dying needlessly. Glad your enjoying your first foray into what is easily the most hectic and intense fps multiplayer on the market. As long as your getting points on the board for your team, then map familiarity will start to help you get your K/D back up later on when your on comms with mates.

First knife kill was very satisfying. Can you take down choppers/jets with gunfire? Thought I might've took a chopper down today but not sure. Nailed the parachuting pilot anyway! :)

Can you recommend a good machine gun for me? None are packing a punch and annoyingly the only sniper rifle I've got so far doesn't instakill.

No sniper rifle is insta kill unless its a headshot.
Choppers themselves cannot be taken down with infantry gunfire. Armour is too thick. Although it is possible but an incredibly hard thing to do is snipe the pilot or gunner through the glass. A direct hit from an Engineer RPG/SMAW on a chopper/jet will blow it up & anyone inside. Otherwise the only infantry defense is the IGLA/STINGER launchers which have a lock on, but will only disable arcraft at best with one hit. Also stationary launchers can be effective on hardware.

To be honest I'm between the sniper/standard soldier. I normally like stealth/sniping so will gear myself towards this once I get more used to it. Swear I hit the guy in the head he returned fire killing me and he had 7% health left. Anyway I digress, I'm going to read up on the web tonight whilst the mrs watches crap factor. She's away tomorrow night so looking forward to caning it then.

Get yourself registered on Battlelog man. Then if you have a smart phone download the Battlelog app. Its invaluable for weapon/vehicle stats. Also tracks your progression so you know whats next for ya on the unlock queue.
