Long way to go till I'm no1 in the world. Current number 1 has played 2622 hours and over 206,000 kills.

Also if you have the close quarters mode then play the arse off it whilst it's double xp, you get a lot more kills than normal rush so you will unlock the weapons and add ons quicker plus you will rank up faster and all the goodies that brings with it lol

I've got premium, for some reason one of the files has taken over 6 hours to download. So hopefully by tomorrow I'll be up to speed.

If it was your first time updating the game i wouldnt be surprised. The game has had 3 or 4 updates/patches since launch with each one over a gig in size. Then the dlc maps so far would add up to over 4 gigs. So, um, yeah, 6hrs sounds bout right.
Ha, ha, aiming high for the no.1 slot buddy. To be honest id say the players in the top 10% would be all on the boosting scene. They'd have their own server, lock it & just score points to their hearts delight. Or, alternatively they will never play alone but hunt in packs with assault class on infantry heavy maps(Metro) reviving the shit out of each other & basically farming points. So, in my opinion they are not worthy of any adulation. I'm a cynical fuck like that.

Well I've been watching YouTube videos for the last hour and I've picked up some tips. Half of them should've been written down in a little pamphlet and put inside the game box, that would be a good idea wouldn't it? I would call them instructions or something..... When I was playing today I was saying to myself ''I wish I could spot people like Gears 3!'' turns out you can!

Haha yeah you can and you get points for it, you can also use same technique to order squad to defend or attack an objective. I think best advice I can give is, if playing solo then jump on close quarters and drop either ammo or medi packs like they are sweeties, the maps are small and people tend to run the same route between flags so you will learn where to drop your goodies to gain more points. Some may disagree but I find the big maps and rush/conquest game modes are better suited for a squad with comms. It's quite frustrating to spawn on a big map you havent played before and you have to run half the map just to get to the action simply cos you don't know where the vehicles spawn or you haven't got anyone putting spawn beacons down.
Pilgrim and myself should be on most of tomorrow so feel free to jump in party and say hello. Don't wait for an invite we don't bite lol we swear a lot tho :p

Its simple things like that that i forget to mention to new players, its second nature to me at this stage. That button(back button on360 & select on PS3) is also used to ask for a medi kit, an ammo resupply, to ask for help from teammates when your suppressed & also if your squad captain when you look at the objective & press it, this sets a squad directive.
Whats your Battlelog title mate so i can add you?

It's richhoyle24 and my tag is Bigrich1979. I've only been playing capture the bases on large maps today not played any close quarters. I did spend loads of time on my own running half the map, but I did get loads of points for capturing bases though, now I know how to spot people and how the map works etc I'll be more confident for sure.

The maps I've enjoyed the most so far are Wake Island, the one based around docks and the European city one. Don't like the Metro one at all.

Only been pissed off once, last night was playing conquest and started off 4 v 4. My team was winning and I was MVP so alls good. Got the enemy from 750 tickets down to 99 then 3 players came in and joined the opposition. Lost in the end and it was a painful 73 minutes but it's an education.

I need to stop thinking you can hide from tanks behind small walls too! :)

This can happen with a certain regularity, as one team get pasted you'll more than often get those who can't hack it and quit out, only to allow space for a handful of more experienced players to enter the game and start to deliver the pain. We've been on both sides of this situation though, being both the ones receiving an unsuspected, sudden pummeling and those entering a game to dish out the virtual annihilation so it's all good.

To be honest this is one of those things that I love about the game, the fact that it can so easily switch from cakewalk to catastrophic beating, kinda keeps you on your toes when playing.

It got to the stage where I was playing cat and mouse with a tank as an engineer, highlight was seeing both people get out and start repairing said tank and me sending a rocket their way :).

Two things learning on my second attempt to get into BF3

1. I really can't stand the default BF3 maps. I find them unplayable compared to my (favourite) BFBC2 ones. What were they thinking!?

2. I love the Armoured Kill and Back to Karkland maps. This is the Battlefield I want to play. The clue is in the title "Battlefield" not "Battletown" or "Battlecity" or even "Battlewarehouse".
