Based on the reviews the gameplay seems to be super tight and the story... noticeably absent. I'm looking forward to seeing this for myself and am curious if this ultimately makes the game more appealable to non-fans whilst making fans feel cheated, or not?

Is that not just a case of critics avoiding spoilers?

I've seen a reviews say that it seems lighter on story than the previous games. I wonder if that's down to the way story is delivered in open world games, more piecemeal.

A couple of reviews mention that the whole, anime, crazy, OTT plot deliveries are gone. We'll see soon enough though.

I've been avoiding MGSV trailers/news for a while, but I'll be eagerly going back through the trailers once I've played the game. Always fascinating to see the trailers that Kojima Productions puts together! :D

I'm trying to get the all clear on this (maybe taking spoilers a tad too seriously I know) but on a scale of 1 to 10 how spoilerific is it?

If it's not "90% of the game you actually play as raiden on a cloud under the ocean" I might give it a look.

I dont actually know because I havent watched it also watch out reading reviews because some outlets like the Washigton post apparently spoil the main twist of the game in the review

Is it a case of they are only spoilers because you know they are?

If you know you're going to get it anyway, it's best to just avoid all the reviews. Why do you care how it reviews if you've already decided to get it? :)

I have watched it about 10 times and I would say as long as you turn it off after the song finishes (3 minutes) you will be fine. After the song there is somethings I've not seen before which has pretty much made my mind up to pick it up at launch.

The first 2-3 minutes are just highlights of all the previous metal gear games. So unless you have not finished everything up to and including Ground Zeroes I would say it isn't spoilerific.

I had a look too and the only real spoiler is a long walking sequence mid way through (possibly just after where DomsBeard mentions) which is almost likely to be a red herring in itself and likely to make no sense once you've played the game. There is some end-game stuff shown but I'm certain that too is too early to come to conclusions on, it's probably the tutorial given how out of focus these bits of information come at us with no real context.

I did notice an email yesterday that shopto have charged me for an unknown item so I'm really hoping this long weekend is set to be filled, sadly I agreed to a day out in London(derry?) so I won't be fulfilling the dream completely this weekend.

My copy from Zavvi still hasn't been dispatched, means there's a chance it may not even arrive launch day. So much for pre-ordering to save a few quid.

Just ordered my copy from simplygames, so hopefully it'll arrive in time for some Bank Holiday playing. I've been curiously unexcited for this until the reviews started coming out; now I'm hyped for what will be my first MGS playthrough since Guns of the Patriots
