Yes I used the Megadrive version. Tried the SNES one too but preferred the other one.

@hazeredmist, the SNES emulator - whilst not quite as perfect as the others - works really well if you change a few settings as mentioned above. I've been playing Pilotwings on it, and it works brilliantly.

Did that (helpful of you to mention those settings), still wasn't impressed, my tests were on Mario World, Mario Kart, and I found it jittery with music speeding up and down etc. Goof Troop fared better, haven't tried Pilotwings though. A little better than the SNES emulator on PSP, but my JXD runs SNES perfectly so I can't really be bothered unless it's perfect.

In all honesty I have enough devices to run handheld retro games perfectly already without the Vita taking over, plus it'll never become the go-to machine due to the awful Vita memory card prices (I could never fit everything I have on my JXD / PSP without paying 70+ for a 64GB Vita card!) so I will probably not be using it for retro gaming.

Does the JXD support Dreamcast? I seem to remember someone (you?) mentioning it a while back. Have you given any games a try?

In other, non Vita hacking related news - has anyone tried Neverwinter yet? I'm tempted to try it, it's had pretty decent reviews, and it's free so that's a bonus.

Yep, I've only tried Sonic Adventure and that works pretty much perfectly, using Reicast emulator. Also tried Shenmue which worked but was a little glitchy. Playable though. My JXD emulates Dreamcast much better than my Pi3 does actually.

I was just about to buy Ape Escape 2 for PS4 when I noticed Psychonauts has been released too now! I can't decide which to get >_< Anyone played both and can offer an opinion?

Also - re: Vita hacking, there's a second SNES emulator available now which is MUCH better than the SNES9X emulator previously available. I'd definitely recommend switching. It's downloadable from the HENkaku site.

Awesome! I'll give that a try. I was really excited about SNES games on the Vita, but SNES9X just wasn't doing it for me. Was playing through Super Metroid and the music was completely off. Thanks for that!

The music usually needs the framerate to be locked to NTSC too.

Wish they'd hurry up with a Neos release date. Wanna get that pre order down.

Just tried out that new SNES emulator (CATSFC Libretro) for the Vita and it is in fact much better. I still have some slight music hitching (I've already locked the framerate to NTSC, thanks for that advice!) but it's much preferable to SNES9X. It's now a viable way to play these games on my Vita.

If anyone wanted to give the whole emulation/homebrew thing on their Vita, be aware Sony have rolled out 3.61 today blocking it, so make sure you don't update just yet!

Me, I'll probably be updating as soon as I have to. Emulation and homebrew is a lot of fun, but I can't not have access to the 100's of Vita games I already own digitally. Shame :(

Seems like Sony made an 'error' offering RetroGrade for PS3 on PS+ this month (really? Come on. You didn't make an error. You just hoped nobody would notice/care!) and are now offering Tom Clancy's Endwar as well. Haven't played it myself, but it seems to have reviewed fairly well.

PS4 slim appears to just have been leaked (pretty convincing fake otherwise), appears some were stolen.

Yeah looks pretty real doesn't it, and obviously fairly imminent if there are units sat on lorries/in warehouses to be half-inched in the first place.

I must say, it's not very pretty is it. Can't think of many consoles that look quite so bland, and size-wise there seems to be negligible difference vs the standard console (which to be fair was a lovely compact thing to start with). This seems more an exercise in cost cutting on Sony's part rather than offering anything at all different vs the original model. No optical-out port seems a pretty cheap-ass move, and if they're scrimping on features like that then I'd wager we won't see any of the 4K upgrades we've had from the Xbox One S, with all that sort of thing saved for the Neo.

If that's the case, it's going to be a really interesting and fragmented market now with no real direct equivalents anymore. Making a few suppositions, the cheapest, most basic current gen console with be this slimmer standard PS4 (£199 you think?), and it'll also be cheapest entry point to VR if people want to jump on board with that. The Xbox One S will be next, probably £50 more expensive and boasting all it's 4K and HDR capabilities this new PS4 won't have, but then lacking any VR options if you want that. Then you'll have the Neo - a bit more powerful than both and with all the 4K gubbins as well (I assume) and VR as an option. Finally the Scorpio will be the Uber console - more powerful than everything but a decent stretch and probably offering more potent VR support through Occulus as well.

Lots of assumptions there but that's way things are pointing, and you do fear for the mass market and parents wondering innocently into their local store to buy a games console - so many options, and all with different propositions.

Much as I like leaks, the fact these guys apparently have quite a few of these consoles to sell seems indicative they were stolen, which feels kinda gross to me. Still, nice to know.

Current PS4 price is £250 new? So I'd say £150 - 200, say £179.99 as a pretty low price point.

Really? I'll be surprised if we see any bundles under 250.

Slim Playstations are always cheaper then the current model to the best of my recollection anyway.
