Here's the latest episode of our weekly podcast dedicated to videogame music – Sound of Play

For many of us, it’s hard to think of almost any videogame without our minds conjuring up the music that accompanied it. What we aim to bring you with Sound of Play is a diverse sample of our favourite pieces from the many air-punching, spine-tingling, tear-jerking and grin-inducing videogame soundtracks we’ve heard over the years. Of course it’s not just about what we like, so if you venture over to our forum at caneandrinse.com you can put forward your favourites and we’ll start to include a selection in the playlist for each show.

This show’s presenter was: Leon Cox

with community contributions from Todinho, Izgimmer, Flabyo, ToQi, xbenblasterx, lessthantv, Macstat, Craig and ghoststrikes

Track listing for this show is as follows:

Track 1: End of the Dark by Tappi Iwase/Masahiro Hikariko/Motoaki Furukawa/Kozo Nakamura - Policenauts, 1994
Track 2: Majestic Omni 1 by Morten Sørlie/Tor Linløkken/Bjørn Arve Lagim - Anarchy Online, 2001
Track 3: Subarashiki Shin Sekai (Brave New World) by Yuzo Koshiro - Namco X Capcom, 2005
Track 4: Solitude by Masashi Hamauzu - Unlimited Saga, 2002
Track 5: Below the Asteroids by Jón Hallur Haraldsson - Eve Online, 2003

Lovers of really obscure Namco and Capcom music, and arrangements thereof, really should go dig out the Namco X Capcom soundtrack. There's some really weird stuff on there (and only one other vocal track, so you're safe from the JPop for the most part :) )

If you enjoy Harvest Moon, definitely pick up Stardew Valley, it's better than almost every HM game since FoMT. I would recommend the PC version though, since the mouse makes everything way faster and easier. As a side note, the Harvest Moon series is/was developed by Marvelous, Natsume only handled the localization, usually badly.

I am aware, but these are the flubs which sometimes happen when you are ad-libbing at speed at 44 years old!
