Re: Independent Video Game Stores
So, my mate who runs the Retro Hunter Shop In Leigh-on-Sea has just snagged the shop next to his and has gone into partnership with his friend to open up a Arcade Cafe.
It’s early days but their looking at about 30-35 cabinets, drinks, snacks and aim to be open in July this summer.
Then there’s the shop next door.
Exiting times.
We should all go down !!!

Re: Independent Video Game Stores
I saw that on Twitter. All the best to him with it, sounds brilliant.
Re: Independent Video Game Stores
Sounds great! I've had a long held fantasy that's I'd love to open an arcade cafe some day. It'll never happen, but just one of those things I think about from time to time, imagining what cabs I'd get in and stuff. Great idea!

Re: Independent Video Game Stores
Bizarrely my wife was googling quiet seaside places in south east to go to this weekend. So tomorrow we are going (purely by chance) to Leigh on sea. Looking forward to checking out the shop and freaking retro hunter himself out by sending him a Pokemon go gift from right near his own shop haha (we are Pokemon go friends after Nick answered my shout out for friend codes).Suits wrote: ↑April 18th, 2019, 7:16 pm So, my mate who runs the Retro Hunter Shop In Leigh-on-Sea has just snagged the shop next to his and has gone into partnership with his friend to open up a Arcade Cafe.

Say hi for me, I've not been down for a while.
I know he's recently got some decent stuff in, so you won't be sort of things to drool over .

We didn’t get to go in the end as we were enjoying the other things Leigh on sea has to offer. The beach, a spot of artisan coffee, some crabbing and food with a view. I think the whole of the area must have descended what with the lovely weather and the bank holiday weekend but it was still nice despite being very busy.Suits wrote: ↑April 20th, 2019, 9:35 pmHahahaha, cool, enjoy man.Simonsloth wrote: ↑April 20th, 2019, 8:07 pm Bizarrely my wife was googling quiet seaside places in south east to go to this weekend. We drove via the shop on the way home and it had been closed all day so I wasn’t too disappointed in the end. I must say looking through the window I’m excited to go back and look properly as I’ve not seen a shopfront like that in a while! I’ve got my eye on a few things already!
I genuinely think there’s a lot to offer if it turned into a meet up. Nice pubs, nice coffee, nice view, everyone smiling and enjoying themselves without the usual friction that alcohol often brings. No wonder it’s one of the happiest places to live:)
Re: Independent Video Game Stores
So, my mates Arcade opens today, Neon Knights.
Ali has bought the shop next to his Retro Hunter Video game and toy shop and has fitted it out with loads of original cabinets.
Not as many as some of the larger national venues but he has almost 30 original cabinets now, with plenty more on the way.
To name a few he has a Nintendo Play Choice 10, Simpsons, 4 player Konami cabinet, Neo Geo and loads loads more.
£10 entry and all are switched to free play.
Snacks and coffee’s too.

Essex, by the looks of it. Found the Retro Hunter's Twitter page, with links to the Neon Knights' opening...

Ah, sorry Glenn mate, yeah that was pretty daft.
As others have already said, it’s Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. Near Southend.
The blog doesn’t really what they’ve got down there, seems a bit out of date. Twitter is probably the best place to see.
I’ve been popping in occasionally over the last couple of months and seeing the machines in various states or repair and refurbishment.
Arcade’s aren’t really my thing, as I just missed them but they are all cool as Hell.
