Re: This week's podcast: Super Mario 64

I'd actually say the whole hub world thing has turned really dull considering the roots laid by the likes of Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Even Mario Land 2 had a great hub world. It's a shame, I'd like to see a return to a proper multi-root map.

Re: This week's podcast: Super Mario 64

I believe it was Christmas 1998 I got my N64 and a copy of Mario 64 - the game was absolutely unbelievable to me at the time and I'm actually not sure it's been bettered in 3D terms (be gentle - I haven't played the Galaxy games). The courses all had a personality of their own with a fantastic sense...

Re: PlayStation Vita

Haha!

Just downloaded it for a laugh, sadly it's a pretty naff unresponsive clone but it certainly looks authentic.

Re: The 3DS / Nintendo Direct Thread

Got mine too, it's pretty unplayable, the zooming makes timing jumps more difficult. Not sure why they had to port the GameBoy version for this. But hey, it was free! Can't complain too much.

Re: PlayStation Vita

Grabbed TXK last night, absolutely hooked. Pretty much the perfect arcade blaster!

Remember when people said the Vita was shit and had no games?

Re: PlayStation Vita

Persona 4 Golden should be played by anyone who owns a Vita! Expensive but worth it.

It's all been an elaborate troll! The Vita is a hideous mess and is exceeded in the category of ill-advised, unspeakably awful consoles only by the Barcode Battler.

Re: The 3DS / Nintendo Direct Thread

Took a punt on James Noir's Hollywood Crimes 3D, which was literally £3 at Grainger Games for a new copy. Not bad for a Layton clone! Pretty low-rent FMV type stuff in between but the puzzles are surprisingly decent.

Re: PlayStation Vita

I'd happily have paid far more for Persona 4 Golden than the £25 or so I did looking back after completing it. It's really unfairly labelled by some as 'just a PS2 port' as it adds a considerable amount of content, story elements and new features to hook veterans back in as well as newcomers. I can'...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

All on 3DS: Mario 3D Land - on World 8. Brilliant. Quite easy so far but pleasantly so, a real advert for the 3DS. Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - oddly disinterested initially but I'm sure that'll change once I get out into Hyrule. I rarely get into games when I'm replaying them, so hopefully I'll get ...

Great. Taking their lead from the handheld wonder :D

Am I reading correctly that you sold your Vita? Damn if so... I think it's really coming into it's own now.

Re: PlayStation Vita

I actually wondered if the lack of multiple profiles was deliberate, seeing as you can abuse it with PSN game sharing on the PS3... I doubt it's a capability issue. Minor gripe for me, and the fact there is a backup method means there's a way round it so it's not all bad. One fantastic thing I now t...

Re: PlayStation Vita

I remember when first getting my Vita getting all the apps, Twitter, Facebook, email etc and after a while thinking, when am I EVER going to use any of these on the Vita? Deleted. It's nice they're the option is there, but other devices do that stuff far better really. I can understand people who do...
