Sound of Play: 290 – the videogame music podcast

For this special, Brian and Leah take a Gummi Ship ride through the Kingdom Hearts series with a selection of tracks chosen from the three numbered entries in the series (whole numbers, rather. No complex fractions).

What we aim to bring you with Sound of Play is a diverse sample of some of our favourite pieces from the many air-punching, spine-tingling, tear-jerking and grin-inducing videogame soundtracks we’ve heard over the years.

  1. This was a very nostalgic episode for me getting to go through the history of the KH franchise. 🙂

I just want to throw one last track recommendation in, check out the version of Dearly Beloved used in Melody of Memories, it’s just so delightfully jazzy.

  2. Thank you a lot for this, Brian and Leah, this was a trip down memory lane for me. As much as i have certain issues with later entries in the KH saga, the first game was absolutely magical for me at the time. I feel bad that negative talk about the series mixed with my personal gripes caused my view on the series to become slightly jaded, as if my liking the series was something to be ashamed of. However listening to you guys talk about the series alongside the nostalgic tracks brought all the memories back for me and reminded me why i loved the series in the first place, so thank you for that. I plan on going back and playing through the series bit by bit again once i get a PS5.
