Super Mario Galaxy / Super Mario Galaxy 2 – Cane and Rinse No.125

“Yes, it’s undeniable! We’re detecting Power Star energy patterns in the nearest galaxy.”

In this, the penultimate podcast of our six month long Super Mario bonanza, we discuss the first and third highest-rated videogames of all time (according to GameRankings), Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Could Nintendo EAD Tokyo helmed by Yoshiaki Koizuki bounce back five years after the (slight) disappointment of Super Mario Sunshine? Leon, Darren Gargette, Josh and a host of Cane and Rinse contributors give their views on the cosmic matter.

  1. Found this to be very dull like most Mario games. A souless world with bland uninteresting characters that give you little reason to want to push forward through the game or explore. The game offers many simple challenges, but as it’s Nintendo the media have firming kept their nostalga glasses on and awarded this with high praise while ignoring the process we’ve made in gaming since the late 80s.

This will always be a problem in this industry though and it’s one you have to learnt to accept and quickly ignore to find the truly amazing games that surround the exception that is Nintendo.
