This show’s presenter is Ryan Hamann (@InsrtCoins) with guest Brody Stewart, along with community contributions by thegreenflea, spoopycharlotte, and Colin Alonso.

  1. I think it’s really unfair to Mr. Gregson-Williams that you say “Composed…potentially by Harry Gregson-Williams–maybe plagiarized from an actual classical composer…” I hope “actual” isn’t derogatory here. That iconic Metal Gear Solid theme was composed for the original MGS by TAPPY, and Harry Gregson-Williams only remixed it for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Although the melody somewhat recurs in the future, the theme itself was dropped once similarities were noticed. Please let me know if I’m misinformed.

I don’t want to share links in case I’m not allowed, but I have two recommendations if anyone wants more info. One link is the page “Metal Gear Solid Main Theme” on the Metal Gear Wikia, and the other is “Metal Gear Solid theme unused in MGS4 due to plagiarism claims,” on Joystiq. A comparison of the two tracks is linked there.

I haven’t finished out the episode yet, but I LOVE “Vignette: Panacea” Disasterpeace & Akash Thakar. Wow!

  2. Hi @Merilethal, unsure if you’re aware of this but In reference to the MGS track, it was actually TAPPY’s original theme that was plagiarised from Russian composer Georgy Sviridov’s Winter’s Road. Gregson-Williams reworked the TAPPY theme for MGS2 but Kojima Productions/Konami pulled the theme from being used MGS4 since it had become clear that it was copied from someone else’s work.

  3. Oh, if you want to give us links to tracks you’d like played then I’d recommend joining our forum as we have a specific thread for submissions or alternatively, use Hashtag soundofplay on our twitter or drop us a line via our Facebook page. Links to all can be found on each post within this site.

  4. I get what you’re saying Jay Taylor, thanks. Might submit someday.
